nothing to be confused about.
planar f2.0 if you have the $$. its abt 1.2k+
planar f1.4.. i've given it up when i got my 50 1.2.
Since it's a macro lens, the aperture will not be constant when focusing?

that ultron's cute to have, sharp to use, very sharp at all apertures.. hehe. but what i didnt like was i had to use a close-up filter they supplied, screw it on, just to get closer, i.e. 25cm etc.. without it, min focus's probably abt 40cm++..
which is why i prefer the 35F2 still. and 35F2 has a softer circular bokeh characteristic, than the circular harder stronger outlined bokeh of the 40f2. but when closer i.e. 25-50 cm range from subject.. i.e. a plate of food etc.. they're pretty similar with the ultron sharper (with close up filter)
CA doesnt bother me at all. those who complain abt CA most of the time are those who shoot at extremely wide apertures in bright light..
not abt F-stop either
gave up cuz of bokeh preference. diff people diff taste and preference.
I have never use a Carl Zeiss Len before. But I have heard story like these lens can give you a creamy look pic and not so hard sharp and flat pic. Was it the case ?

What are the disadvantage if you screw on the close up filter permanently?
you cannot focus to infinity. the furthest you can focus is probably under 1 metre with the close up filter on.
the close up filter goes onto the hood, not onto the lens as well.. so... have to screw on and off.. on and off... -_-~
Depends on the power of the closeup filter..
+1 - 1m
+2 - 0.5m
+3 - 0.33m
+4 - 0.25m
Distances are measured from the filter.

hey, i called CP and the lady was very abrupt. said none was available and hung up before I could even make further enquiries. sux when a dealer becomes arrogant...and only cos they CAN.
am taking my business elsewhere where the people are more polite.
Voigtlander 58 SLII is a great lens
I love its closer than normal focusing and beautiful image rendering with beautiful OOF image!
