Hi,

Just joined as member. Intrested to buy tripod for Sony A100? Which one should buy? Budget is around SGD 100 - 150. and where to buy (cheap) Pls help. Thx.

hi welcome to the forum, I am also new to photography and have recently bought a tripod at that range.

you may visit this website http://www.jl-photo.net/products/gitai-tripod-series

the Y560 at $120 is very firm and stable at that price range (based on personal experience).. do give a try..

just take note, if you want cheap yet strong....will not be light. check out my review of the Slik U212.

should be able to last you years and years and even more years till you hand it down to your descendants.

There are also offerings from Benro starting at $120-ish for ballhead. There is also a Manfrotto tripod + ballhead together for $149 i think.

Many tripods out there so i suggest you try them first and see which one suits you best.

other people performance may be different with your performance unless your setup is exactly the same. Check out the forum search as there are many other models for consideration including the fold-able types.

eg, how many people you know would actually step on a tripod to see if can support the body weight on one leg...

scary but pretty amazing for the Slik U212 since i am 3 digit kg.

as in another thread i posted...really depend how much you want to spend with Benro on the cheaper end to Manfrotto as mainstream.

Thx guys for a wonderful replies.

How much does this U212 costs? where it is available?

You can check out the other Slik models too... Cathay Photo do have promotions from time to time...

the what, where and how much http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/showthread.php?t=450021
but be warned, its an old school tripod so not meant for people who can afford to have their equipment to be light and yet somewhat solid.

since no one has posted, my view of tripod for the budget constrained.

stable and light tripod not cheap, easy to find.
light and cheap tripod not stable, everywhere can find.
cheap and stable tripod not light, even Ebay/Amazon cannot find.

What lens is the TS using?
Not stated but i am guessing for the budget he is looking for a tripod that can last years, go just about anywhere, support considerable weight for around $100-$150.

If he is just using the Kit lens with no flash... even the tripod that is below S$100/- can suit his needs....

see how lah..maybe his system will develop through the years which means greater weight.

Yeah... maybe he have a "300mm F2.8G Lens" for his A100.... then... he need an extra monopod too... :D
Who knows....:)

something like that i can release the attachment plate easily without the camera but once attach camera with it i need to force open it.

you dun have this issue???or its just me???
