Hi, i would like to know the MARKET PRICE for
  • a) NIKKOR18-200mm VR lens
  • b) TOKINA 12-24mm WIDE ZOOM lens.
Planning to get both. These two lenses are recommended to me by a friend.
He said its everything i need.
Basically i shoot some small wedding events and engagement parties.
Currently i only have18-70mm kit lens and want to upgrade.

Can you guys help me out?

My Qs:

  1. How much is nikkor 18-200 VR lens (both 1st hand and 2nd hand prices) ??
  2. How much is Tokina 12-24 wide zoom lens (both 1st and 2nd hand) ??
  3. What is the good and bad of 18-200mm ?
  4. What is good and bad of 12-24mm ?
  5. Can show me a few examples of shots taken using these two lenses?
Thank you so much!

Did you even bother to look in the Nikon section? They collate the lens prices there. Or did you try calling some shops to do your own research? did you try taking a look in the marketplace for second hand prices? Tried googling a lens review for samples?

Another question to add: Have you made up your mind about what YOU really need?

pls do research yourself and not ask for research to come to u.

search the bns section for 2nd price and check the respective brand thread for any prices else make calls to shop to ask for quote or email them for e quote

here comes another joker b4 xmas, please do your homework first lar.

i don tink the 18-200 will be of use to make good photos esp in weddings. like wat someone alr mentioned, get a flash..

another suggestion is get big aperture lens... the tokina could come in handy in group shots though..

Poor chap... got whacked up down left right.

Better to get verbally whacked here than to blindly follow what other say, pay a lot of money and sitting there later asking "And what am I gonna do now with these lenses?"
It's like medicine: the bitter one helps best. Sugarcoated words from silver spoon are not helpful at all.

we should promote such spirits! then they will try to sell off the lens lower than retail price because its '2nd hand' !!

If you don't know this you should refrain from any purchase of equipment but rather spend on books (or use the FOC source 'library'). Alternatively you can start here to read about the very basics. No lens will help you if you have no clue what and how to do.
