First Shoot with 450D

Just got my first DSLR Canon 450D with EF-S 18-55mm IS kit lens.

Did some test shoots in City Hall Area. Comments/critic please

identical, ain't it? looks uninteresting to me, becos of the cloudless background. #2 looks better though.

not bad. except for the washed out sky (not a big prob here, cos the building stands out, but just MHO) and the flare on the left. use a tripod next round if you can. it will create nicer trials from the traffic.

would be better either if the sky colors were stronger, or you do some PP to up the exposure on the foreground.

IMHO, all of these pictures need some PP to bring out the effect.

yeah 1 (ISO-100, F13, 1/60) & 2 (ISO-100, F13, 1/30) are identical.

No 3 i didnt notice the flare till you pointed out. But during the course of the shoot i noticed that taking with the street lamp in your frame makes it look disgusting.

disgusting? lol. maybe you could try another composition to make it 'undisgusting'.

Anyway, a noob question.. How to brighten up the foreground?

Found a technique by adjusting:
highlight +11%
midtone +71%
shadow +26%

and i got this

updated the shot with foreground exposure but the sky color lost its sunset tone. How to fix that?

many ways to brighten up the foreground. levels, curves, shadows/highlights etc...

blueness of the sky is actually done with some levels, shadows/highlights, then hue/saturation.
