Minimizing noise from high ISO

Dear all,
How do u minimize noise when shooting with an iso of lets say 400 onwards...

I have heard of ways such as metering from the midtones of a scene...(still cant figure this one out right)

are there any other ways?

Post process the noise.

Else it will either be a better camera or you can control and shoot under
better lightings

This is assuming you took the scene with the correct exposure, cause if you underexposed and try to pull details later in post processing, there will be much more noise

Unless stated otherwise, bring your own flash.

I heard from a friend of mine. if you expose it optimally it won't be too obvious, meaning, you try to slow the shuttle speed, let it take in more lights but u got to be real still for the photos, as lil shake will make the photo blur. Best is bring long a stand for such shots. This will mainly apply for landscapes ba. Cos the more lights the camera take in, the less noise it will produce. so in the pics, onli the darker areas will be grainy.

I think TS is referring to situations where you really bo pian need the higher ISO.

For situations that allow lower shutter speed , the use of a tripod and low ISO will definitely give cleaner shots.

i would use a tripod as i carry it everytime..but there are some situations when lan lan have to pump up the iso...

still figuring out on what are midtones..

at any situation that force you to shoot at HIGH ISO.. just shoot.. NOISE NINJA is always there to the rescue...

And best to shoot in RAW, or turn off the DRO.
