hey guys, my uncle just passed me his old skool type of SLR. It's a Cosina CT-1 Super. Came along with 3 lens too, 1 fixed, 2 zoom. I browsed thru the web and found out that it's using the same K Mount as my K100D Super (wat a coincidence !! ;) ), so perhaps the I could use the lens in MF. However, main issue is --> how do I know if the lens is still in working condition ? My uncle just gave me the whole set in a dry box with silica(turned purple liao), but GOD knows how long its been in the box.
So need help in checking the lens .... TKS ! ;p

use it to take a picture ?? :bsmilie:

the old bird way... take out front and rear cap...open to full aperture, shine a torch light through and see... all the dust and fungus if any will be visible...

make sure the aperture lever is working, aperture blades is able to open and close properly...

Try this:

Since they seem to be manual lenses..

Hope it works!

(It does for my old-school M50 lens.)

That's what i thought too, mount it on the camera and use it to take some pics.:bsmilie:

some of the things you can check..
- check whether there is any sign of mould or fungus.
- turn the focusing and zoom ring to make sure the ring turns smoothly.
- turn the aperture ring to make sure that it clicks perfectly at every aperture
- check the aperture blade, make sure the blades open and close smoothly.

tks guys !!! will go home and try tonight !!

read abt some ricoh lenses that had a pin that would cause it to get stuck in the mount right.

not sure if it applies to yr scenario, but gd info for all.

a spoilt, fungus-infested wonky lens is one thing, at least can throw it aside after some fun with it. but getting it stuck to yr camera is def not worth it.

btw, i wished ppl would hand me old-school goodies such as these.
