think it would depends on whether the fathers and mothers are able to hold down a job.......if not, a lot of the younger ones would not be able to afford 2nd hand lenses....this would push it down..I think

those buyers desperate to sell of course will mark down the price but those who are willing to wait will not lower their asking price.

but be prepared to to face a lot of lowballers...during this period of time.

but really.......we are not feeling the full weight of the recession yet...

was at the Pump Room last nite.....knn....so many ppl partying and drinking like no business.....

My deepest feeling is the economy is not as bad as we are lead to think. I smell more of an agenda but certain corporations to exploit it to get financial aids from Govts and to exploit it to the fullest to increase profit, cut staff or govt using this as the best time to hold election by selling fear..etc.( how you think Bush won a second term) There is hard times for sure but it is not as bad as it is ....the problem is the medias could trigger this into a real depression period by all the fear mongering. I say this because the media has always been in the pockets of corporations. Case in point alot of them in the USA are now asking or have asked for money from the US senate. We people are held hostage because of it. But that's just me. Maybe too much conspiracy theories heheh...

Coming back to topic....So even if you can get a good deal on any camera gear..the question is your pocket safe enough to grab those great deals without pushing yourself over your limit. Something to think about in this sick times.

I fervently agree with you. It seems that we are not really in recession. There are still so many people eating in restaurants(Crystal jade, NYDC, Tony Roma etc...) and drinking in starbucks and coffee bean.

Compare now and 98 economic crisis, we seem to be in better now...

frankly...the kids nowadays are the ones SUPPORTING our economy..lol

read today's news and one says he spents $200 per month on DVDs....

since is the school holidays, i see a lot of kids playing lan till the wee hours...

some people are optimistic, some has no sense of danger.
some are pessmistic and kiasu...

like the others in this thread said, your own financial situation decides how are cope with this circumstances. You may live as if its the depression or things are ok .

Is always the clubbing nights at Clarke Quay.:bsmilie:

now thinking in the reversed sense...

price is result of demand and supply.
ok recession kicks in, people still want to change cameras / lens. too bad feels the pinch so do want to get new sets or grey sets... then look look see see in 2nd hand forums. ah can get a 40D or 5D which is still better than the existing gear in hand...

so maybe there maybe a possibility a new crowd is generated during the recession to look into getting 2nd hand gears...

my 2 cents... may look bigger during recession times :bsmilie:

just curious. what do you think?

Economy bad means that ....

(1) People stop spending on new cameras (and other stuff)
(2a) Demand for 2nd hand cameras ==> Price increase ?
(2b) People also stop spending on 2nd hand cameras & stick to what they have ==> Prices go down ?
(2c) To move new cameras, list prices drop ==> 2nd hand prices also drops....

Haha.... damn, getting a headache already.....

Conclusion, not sure.... Hahaha.... ;p
