Hi,

Anyone going for the marathon to take some photos?
Do you know if you need to register to have access just to take some shots?

Thanks.

I'm going ... for the full 42km marathon, not for taking photos though ;)

Don't think you need to register to take photos. It's open to public...

Just remember lots of roads closed so might have to walk a little way to get to the prime spots. :)

Cross by foot should be okay I guess, even when the road is closed, except near the finish line :dunno:

hmm.....
which area is more interesting to take pics at?

the starting point? the middle portion (maybe near the water point) or the finishing point?

These are a few suggestions for shooting the event:

There are water points every 1.5km along the 42km route, and they would offer many shooting opportunities.

The whole stretch of East Coast (Fort Road - Sailing Centre) will have lots of families and friends cheering on. However, transport to this area would be difficult.

The Kallang and Lavendar MRT stations are closest to the 42km route, and that is the last 6km where many participants could have hit the wall. Good stretch to catch cramps and faints, especially if weather is harsh.

The Mountbatten-Fort Road and Crawford-Republic junctions are where the 21km and 42km participants merge. These spots could offer opportunities to catch lots of faces in agony.

Anderson Bridge may offer opportunities to shoot participants doing the last 500m with the Esplanade as backdrop.

Finally, please give way to the participants and volunteers.

Happy shooting. #14986 for 42km.

all the best for your 42km! i'll be running too! :D

there's that guy in official stanchart marathon facebook group, who took his d50 during his marathon run, so that he can take pictures!!! :)

Me running too. Will get my buddy to carry my camera and wait for me at the end point since he can't run due to injury

hahaa maybe one day we should all wear some CS tattoo and run~ then get some CS volunteers to capture us in agony! =PP

Have fun guys.
I will be shooting.
This will be the first marathon since 1993 that I am missing.
Remember to drink at water points, but again not to overdo it.
Do not wait till you are totally dehydrated before putting in water or 100 plus.
Most importantly, let those guys rush off at the start, do not follow them.
The power gel you get at East Coast will also be good.
Take care and go for a strong finish.
Even though I do know you folks, I will still say this, SEE YOU ALL AT THE FINISHING LINE, and remember to look good for the photographers.
Cheers.
Steve

Just hope and pray for good weather tomorrow morning- good luck runners!

i wish a good weather for all runners. a slight drizzle in the mid morning will be great to cool things down.
