Singapura, Singapore
This is the first time I'm seeing an outdoor escalator, near the National Museum of Singapore.

I find that it's a waste of taxpayer's money. What do you guys think ?

IIRC, there were a lot of ding-dongs when the public wanted an escalator to one of the public hospital from the train station.

There's one near Fort Canning Park too. Don't they spoil in rain?

wah lau, can't take it. imagine the stair case near the underpath at amk mrt station, so many people had to walk up and down everyday. they never built event a slope for elderly and people with prams etc. was discussed in the community meetings for a long time already yet nothing happened. and this........ sigh.

Are we world number one for this piece of man made hardware yet?

is this for real? if yes, this is shld be made for the tourists, not for the local. may local need to climb up the slope... not allowed to take,

under hot sun, won't deteriorate?? :dunno: i think it's designed such that when a person step onto it, then it moves.

as for safety, this is very stupid. imagine those kids running and playing there!

You need to pay to use. LOL.

There should be an escalator up Canning, not here, perhaps but somewhere with more pedestrian traffic.

installation art. i don't think it even works. HAHA.

Then I think I must had been moved up it by a supernatural force when I was standing on it few months ago.:bsmilie:

YOU KIDDING ME!!!!!! Sh*T!!!

When I saw the thread I thought it was something within the building exterior structure till I click the thread to read.

They actually built that monstrosity OUTSIDE on a grassy slope. How fragging lazy are Singaporean and/or the Museum staff getting. I know it is getting worst judging by the selfish lazy acts on MRT and other public places but to built a escalator on a short bloody slope that you could simply walk up or have it paved with slabs of concrete.

Hey if they are getting too much funding to play with.... reduce it for the next fiscal year budget. Bloody waste of money. I can't wait to see how much it cost to service and maintain it, sercurity, safety issues and talk about vandalism.

Geeeeeeshhhhh!!!

There are elves underground running on conveyor belts to drive the thing lah.

Hmm. Next thing, escalators in SAF camps and training grounds! Give new meaning to "cheong suah"!

come on, this escalator is very good, important and useful, so the GWC and XMM don't have to climb up and down the hill for having shoot at Fort Canning.

also good for them to practice panning technique.....

i was walking around the area a few nights back. I was also shocked to find an escalator in the middle of nowhere! haha but it's kinda cool to go up and down when no one's watching :D
