I don't know who is Averal and have little interest in photoshoots as I am a still life shooter.

I have read at least 4 posts in CS brodering on personal attack on Averal with two references to her look.

I find the lynching mob mentality of a photo forum disturbing.

What has happened to the kindness, the big heart and friendliness we always see in CS?

Thanks for bringing it up to our attention. May we remind all of the guidelines and we will issue reminders and infractions should this occur from here on out.

We can all discuss the topic(s) at hand without stooping to personal attacks.

I can only say..some reporter no news to write liao..can only hide here and dig for "ba guai" news..

IMO, its not very good for the photography community.

Singapore is already very small, nowadays can hardly find shoot friendly places to shoot landscapes, and with all these news it might shut down another area of photography soon.

I think that in the case of Averal, its hard to comment on her conduct without it seeming like its a personal attack.
I've done a quick track back of her posts and they things she says tend to be contradictory. She had a minor tiff with Mattlock over his perceived MCP attitude, and then proceeded to request for a model for a bondage-style shoot that she wanted to do which involved her wearing high boots etc.
And she starts a thread on ensuring that young models do not get taken advantaged of during shoots on the day that TNP did an article that included an interview with her and in which she stated that she got ragged by CS'ers when she had raised her concerns previously, of which I could find little reference aside from the thread started on the 30th.
And, I think someone has already pointed out the contradiction over her stated expectations as a model when coupled with the fact that her model profile stated that she was open to doing fetish shoots. Note that I am by no means implying that models who do the fetish genre should be considered more ‘open’ to suggestions, but the closer you are to the edge, the higher the risk you’ll topple over right?
I mean, the whole picture is just very muddled.

As stated, have nothing against her, but I dont think very much of her either, as I do think that the stuff she says are a factor of her relative young age and thus eagerness for attention. But then again, my opinion of her should not matter in an open forum.

There's only one popular photography forum here in Singapore which is Clubsnap.

These past few weeks, ST is on a roll to discredit Clubsnap because of a few bad hats members.

Yes agree, in fact it is stated that "fetish shoot" as one of her specialization. Putting that very clearly will attract the attention of not only "fetish" photographers but also "fetish" oriented personality trawling the net.

And when these ppl approached her she cried "foul" and implicating CS and the photographers, thru the media.

Want to seek attention also cannot be at the expense of others :thumbsd:

Based on the article written in the papers, I really do not see what's she shared was objectionable. It's just to bring out the awareness of the dangers that might lurking in "modelling"or such shoots. If any one us here is willing to post or conduct such shoots of our loved ones, family members, especially nude shots in the name of art, I dare say this will put an end to the bad name for sure.:dunno::bsmilie:
I am not a believer that such shoot is the only kind that adds advantage or value to whatever portfolio one is seeking.

Actually I am not sure whether she knew the terms for "fetish", "body parts" and "Artist's Model" ......
All these refer to "Artistic" shooting or plainly .... NUDE

She wants to give everyone the impression that she is someone who is very special, matured, creative, open-minded, etc..... and in actual fact, I still feel that she is talented, no doubt, but still very raw.
Hope she will very least realize that No WOMAN IS AN ISLAND.

Once again, you are being very kind very generous in your praises.

Publicity for CS be it good or bad!

We have a bunch of delicated ppl who screen the forum.

They have done a good job!

I'm not quite sure that I consider criticising a model on her looks as being a personal attack. In the same way we criticise a photographer on his skills when he showcases his photographs, models, will get criticised for their looks, since that is what they are selling and bringing to the table.

To lead on, when a self professed model claims she is a model and then gives views in a newspaper from a "models'" point of view, the next thing people will ask is "Is she qualified to represent models or to speak as a model?". This is again, no different from questioning the qualifications of someone who claims to be a "so and so level".

Now, when we question the qualifications of a model, what comes next? The skill as well as the looks; along with all past records of employment, bookings or the lack thereof. I hardly think that those counts as a personal attack, more of questioning the person's qualifications. Since the person has put right out there in the newspaper that "I'm a model and now I'm making this statement as a model", the rest which follow then becomes fair game. Just like when a person puts up a photograph, it then becomes fair game for people to question or criticise it.

This is not the same as say, telling a photographer that he looks like a monkey or his face looks like it has been hit by a truck - simply because photographers do not put their looks out for sale or hire. Hence, such would be construed as personal attacks.

Hope this helps to put a new perspective on the viewpoint.

vince123123 - Senior Member,
questioning the qualifications (looks) and an outright attack on the model is a very different thing altogether, i am sure an educated man like your good self does not need me to tell you the difference.
