Had a very bad experience with a seller just now on the buy and sell thread. Went to view the camera, which was abt $100 cheaper than usual because he was not giving me the original nikon charger and there was a crack in the lcd panel. Saw that the crack was bigger than i had imagined so I asked him if he would provide a one week warranty if I got it from him tonight. He said he did not mention any warranty on his thread and refused to provide and asked me to try it there. Since he refused to provide a one week warranty, I told him i cannot decide and asked him if i could shoot some pictures with the cam and bring the cf card home to check the shutter count and if there were any dead pixels issue. Hearing that, he got worked up and said I was wasting his time and that it was already very cheap. He said I was not being fair to him and wasting his time and that, I should get it because it is already so cheap. My belief is that when you decide to let someone view your camera, you should be prepared that the person might change his mind and that it should not be a waste of time and I was not even saying i don't want it, just wanted a warranty.

He kept saying no way no warranty, and that I should stop wasting his time. I decided his attitude was very bad so I told him he can take his camera home, I am not buying. In my exchanges I did not say i would get it definitely but he said he was under the impression I was going to get it from him ( without even looking at it). He even pointed the middle finger at me.

Would like some views on whether I did anything wrong. This is the excerpt of our conversation. His nick is blanked out.

In my opinion, I did not do anythign wrong. What do you all think? Quite a bad experience.

if i am to but 2nd hand, i wun touch anything (perhaps, except, vintage equipment, but i not into them) that is condition 8 and below.

certainly no defects like cracks etc.

anyway, all my BnS experience w clubsnap is smooth and enjoyable. so, yours may be an exception.

Until we hear both sides ...

If that's the verbatim discussion, and nothing was said post-script that would implicate you, you should be in the clear.

his rating for condition was 8.

if condition 8, and i see a cracked LCD, i wun even be "aroused" to take any closer look.

Yeah i guess i was hoping it would be a hairline crack and find myself a good deal. He said he bumped it against his belt, but i didnt find tt likely, pro body lcd how can so brittle. tts why i asked for 1 week warranty, but he was adamant he wldnt give and got rather worked up so i found tt a bit dodgy.

Since you drove to his place....I feel he has nothing much to lose....I won't give a damn if what you described on his attitude was truth.....there are plenty of hawker selling cheap food with good service and I don't see why he can't

The only reason I can think of as to why his reaction is so adverse, is that he is already unhappy that he damaged his expensive camera and just when he thinks he can recoup some loss, he meets a careful buyer. Anyway no point debating this further. I feel justified, he wouldn't give a one week warranty so I have a right to suspect something. Like what they always say Caveat Emptor. Buyer has to beware. No point in further talk. Thanks everyone for their opinions and comments. Thread Closed.

lol u meet all kind of ppl. Most importantly, just give a smile and ignore. Anyway hope you got what you r looking for.:D

crack still want to see?

how do you think he got the crack? by tapping lightly on his camera?
