Hi,

i happen to pop into this shop and ask about Fujifilm cameras.

Their prices seem to be alot cheaper.

i check with Fujifilm website and this shop is one of their dealers.

Wo*ldw*de Cameras Centre
111 North Bridge Road #01-38 Peninsula Plaza, Singapore 179098

Any one had any experience with this shop before?

After i hear their price, i was quite shocked and abit skeptical about it......

got ask the price of accessories and compare with other shops? :)

You are right smack in camera central so walk around check prices first.

Haha.. that's a famous black shop, if I were you I'll avoid them, don believe you can try and you will know what I mean, search the past threads/postings and you will read up alot on them.

Cathay, John 3:16, Ms Colour, Alan Photo (SLS-depends who serve you) etc will be more
reputable shops to buy yourself a camera.

Personally I've good experiences with MS Colour and John 3:16.

hey donut88 dont ever go into that shop.. they are hiding their cost which their pricing might not include GST so that they made ppl shock about their cheap pricing of about 100-200++ by using their well "memorised" lyrics which lead you into buying from them. They will show you a proof of their original pricing dated 2007 to make you believe them.

Try searching in the forum adviced by danielsk ^^.

I will strongly recommended John 3:16, Cathayphoto or MS.

Lastly think carefully about this if their price are really that low (100-200++), why their shop always deserted and rarely hardly ppl patrol or talk about in clubsnap? ^^

Good that you are skeptical. That's the usual way how they prey on customers: offer the well-known cameras for a really cheap price (too good to be true - and it is, indeed). Once you enter the shop and do further checks then
a) no stock, but luckily there is another model (newer model) available. That's the point where they try to con you, speculating that you don't know the exact price and they can top up the margin. Sometimes they also try to offer some unknown (China-made?) brands for the same price.
or b) it's a promotional price, only valid if you also buy UV filter (no brand filter for the price of a quality brand one) or you need to buy a wide angle converter (over-prized and questionable use / picture quality).
If you are brave enough fee l free to try just to see whether they use these tactics. But if you don't want to be your own Guinea pig for sales tactics then check the reputable shops as recommended above.

stay away from that shop.... walk a few more steps to CP which is much more reputable....

Hmmmm. It really depends. You need to check your prices first.
Personally I've gotten 3 cameras (2 P&S, 1 dslr) from this shop over a span of 2-3 years.
Prices I've been given are lower than that offered in any other shop.
But then again, I do my research beforehand, so I'm not really scared to buy from this shop :)

Thanks to all for advice.

Yes, i know my prices very well.

In fact, i was only asking for Fujifilm F60fd model. So, all of us here know quite clearly how much the price is for this model.

RRP is $499. I asked some reputable shops such as MS Color, Mustafa, South Asia, all offering between $400-435.

I walked into this black shop and they quoted $320!!! I was like WTF!!! $320..... i stood there for 5 mins, trying to digest this figure and at same time, still looked very uninterested in front of the salesman.

The salesman still tell me to consider carefully and even advised me to wait for the coming SITEX.... told me can get lower price in SITEX.... WTF... how come this salesman is so nice???

The guy still showed me boxes of Fuji F47fd displayed and tell me this model is even cheaper... now offer $200+.... i was even more shocked....

now they got ready stock!! the boxes are all there..... i can see their stock, except for F60fd. i didn't see F60fd boxes there.

i was still thinking very hard and very tempted to tell them to show me the F60fd camera and i will buy straight away!!!

I should have asked them whether $320 comes with the freebies or not.... ha... i feel pai seh to ask, coz i know i couldn't hide my shocking face for long and i dunno what kind of tricks they will come up.......

I'm not afraid of "no stock" tactics they use..... if they tell me "no stock" story, i can just walk away.... no worries.

What i'm most afraid is the camera they sell me is a fake one or 2nd hand one...... this is wat i'm most afraid of....

Mustafa guy ever warned me abt shops selling 'demo' sets to me, if their prices are too low.
He said that something must be wrong if shops sell too low.....

If some of you may notice, Mustafa never have demo set for customers to try.... they dun let you try the camera.

Personally i always get good service from Cathay Marina Square. My regular salesman there is Patrick.

Difference btw CP and MS Color is that Cathay allows credit cards and even 12mth 0% without any additional cost whereas MS Color is cash only for those prices they quote and if use credit card then add a few % (can't remember). Prices at both shop basically the same. I bought my 450D body from CP @ $970 which was the same price quoted MSC. But i paid by 0% at CP.

When i bought my 450D, Patrick let me to trade in the FOC Canon bag to get a Lowepro bag (price tag $115) with just $60 top up. A week later i went back to change the lowepro bag (already used and all tags removed) to another one he also say can with a smile. If dat is not service i dun know wat is.

Don't be lazy.
Do a search here and you will find lots of horror stories about that shop.

Not to try to pour cold water but CP's Lowepro bag are selling at 50% discount of their price tag so your $115 bag should be selling at $58.
