Hi all, I just got my D90 and yesterday was the first real time I played with it.

A shallow depth of field would get a subject to be in focus. A large aperture (small f number) would allow more light to it. But what if at f3.5, the image is too bright for my liking, and using a small aperture would affect my depth of field, how should i compensate it?

Er, increase shutter speed?

What if the shutter speed was crucial as in it has to be as it is, and can't be increased? Is there any other way?
you can lower your ISO, use a ND filter on lens, wait for light to go dimmer, move your subject to another location, as long it works.

Use ND filter. Available in several types, reducing the light by 1,2,4 or 10 stops.
