hi i wanted to do a simple 2 flash combo setup to bring around at ease something like what this guy have in the below video.

http://nuprofotografi.multiply.com/video/item/1

Any alternatives to set up something like this? ebay triggers and corded off camera flash + one radio triggered flash at one time?

Search around in google and manage found this connectors

However kind of expensive though i think will cost 200+ sgd to ship over. Any other alternatives or cheaper lobangs?

Thanks in advance.

If it were me, the cheapest I could get to do that for would be ...

1) Optical slave - $25
2) Misc Stationery - $3
3) PC cord - $15
4) Duct tape - $3

TOTAL: $46

assuming I already have all the various flash, diffusers and stands etc.

The most reliable and therefore convenient would be to use everything off-shoe via radio triggers, and to use reliable triggers like the Skyports or Pocket Wizards ... but they're not cheap.

cheap but no TTL.......

TS asked for cheap mah ... besides, I'm a 'Manual' man!

an original ttl cord, already cost about $100, don't think you can find anything cheaper than this.

anyway, you can gather a few people to buy the connectors together to save shipping cost.

good n cheap,
n if the flash has its own metering,
even better :)
my metz does,
TS is using what flash?

lol...

sometime, something can go for cheap thing, something which can't, there is no cheap ttl cord I ever heard off. :)

hi shifu,
if the TS doesn't mind 3rd party's cord,
$45.

I tried those wireless flash trigger from Tagotech, it works indoors but once outdoors, it goes haywire and keep firing. Guess a sync cord or PW is the best choice for outdoor.

Actually the China-made Cactus/PT-0 somethings etc all have a NOTORIOUS reputation for unreliable operation, unless willing to do internal re-wiring and attaching an external antannae to the unit (transmitter IIRC). A friend told me one shop in Peninsula opened 3 brand new units, and they ALL failed to fire off ANY flash!

Do a search on modifying flash triggers on the net and especially of Flickr groups and you will 'discover' some very interesting things!

I will rather spend more money to get a reliable set, instead vomit blood during middle of a shoot.

Vomit blood never mind, but you will gain a bad reputation among clients for being unreliable as well!

thanks DM :) but what problems is it??

Hmm ... I suggest you read and find out, cos my recollection is a bit hazy since I last researched those articles a LONG time ago.

IIRC, it was either not firing properly, or like fire once, then the units sets off the flash like machine-gun fire and then everything dies or suntink liddat.

The good part about these ebay triggers is that they really cheap ard $40 or less, so if you get a set and it doesn't work/solder wrong/blow something you won't cry so much. Bad part is, $40 is still $40 and you waste time and money.

Go and READ, cos as you research, you might discover other stuff that I din mention or forgot.

You're already using, or going to use?

Try and let us know how it works, and under what condition it doesn't work?

I hear that there are several versions ...

im using it now...the flash is not directly connected to the receiver like the catus one...rather it is connected to an external hotshoe which is connected to the receiver via a wire...some of the time the connector of the hotshoe will be loose and then the flash will fire without any warning..the time it will not fire is kinda unpredictable..sometimes at different angles it will fire, sometimes it will not...
