Help required on Trip to Macau

Hi,

Need some input.

I'll be travelling to HK and possibily Macau for around 8 days. HK is a must, Macau is an option.

I am very familiar with HK but have no clue on Macau. Is it recommended for me to break my trip into two? Say 5 days in HK and 3 in Macau?

Or can I just do a day trip from HK to Macau say, starting early morning, then end later in the evening? I can do this once or twice if there's really a lot of things to do.

Or is it better to simply stay over in Macau?

I'm concerned about airline issues as well as hotel bookings. If I were to break up the trip, then I need to coordinate more things (days in which hotels, which airlines etc). If the day trip option works, then I can just book one return ticket and one hotel for the entire duration.

If the day trip option is feasible, how does one get from HK to Macau?

It's easy to get to Macau from HK, just go to the Shun Tak ferry terminal and take a one-hour ferry ride over... very easy.

Besides the casinos, Macau do not really have much to offer, few places you can visit are the Macau Tower, Senado Square, St Paul's Ruins, the Venetian.

Winter is approaching, so the days are short, by 1800hrs, the sky is already dark. Temperature currently is about 20 degress celcius.

I would recommend you just stay in HK, and hop over for the day trip.

Thanks Hitman. My priority is more of shopping than casinos, although I don't mind popping over just for a look at the gambling tables. In HK, the places I enjoy are Apliu Street, the various bazaars and street markets, the kowloon shopping malls etc. Any equivalents in Macau?

In that case, Senado Square will be the place to visit, you can spend about half the day there, the connecting lanes will take you to the St Paul's ruins. The other place will be Taipa village, but you'll have to visit on a Sunday afternoon cos that's when the bazaars and street hawkers come out to play.

The Venetian is more upmarket with almost all fashion brand names under one roof, but I do recommend a visit, just for the sake of it. It has the biggest gaming floor in the world.
