will scretch/cut affect the flash performance

i have recently saw a little cut on the flash lens. Didn't know how i actually get it. like to ask bro here whether will this cut affect of the flash performance?

The cut is already in the flash right?

Then why not try to shoot using flash and if you still can't see if there are any effects or not, post the pic here so we all can see.

i forgot to mention i'm using sony HVL-F58AM flash

Well, to be honest the pictures looks ok to me.

Maybe to be able to see clearer, I suggest you take a picture of a blank surface, for example maybe wall or something like that. That way, you can see better the evenness of the flash (i.e. is there any areas that is brighter or dimmer that other).

But, yea, from those 2 photos... I would say, the scratch doesn't effect your pictures

I'm not sure what you did, but 3 out of the 4 pictures look unbelievably poor with respect to the uniformity of the light distribution. But this certainly has nothing do do with a small scratch.

Your earlier picture of the stuffed toys on the bed also has strange streaks. I'm not sure if this is caused by flare, by reflective surfaces on the side, or by big dirt streaks on the lens and/or sensor.

seems to me that the area of coverage of the flash is too narrow for the lens. either that or the flash is in really atrocious shape :dunno:

that why i capture a few pic on the wall which i'm ask to do so by bro cg171s
if the scratch didn't affect anything, i may not to visit sony service center.

logically, if u think about it,
I think a small scratch doesnt effect flash performance much.
U need something really drastic to affect the distribution of the flash light I think.

It just like a mirror with a small scratch, if u do reflect light with it a small scratch would'nt make so much of a difference rite?

Hope you got the answer you're looking for.
So, yea... the scratch doesn't really affect your pictures. No need to send servicing. Better save your bucks to upgrade equipment later
