Anyone has any solution or natural remedies to regular gastric problem?

I have been getting frequent gastric attacks for the past 2 years (About once every 1-2 mths). I do not have such problem in the past. Symptoms are abdominal pain and vomiting lasting over 10 hrs. I admit I did not have a healthy lifestyle when started work, taking my dinner late at night because of work comitment. However I have stopped such bad habit for the past few mths, trying hard to eat regularly, cutting down on oily food ,etc. But the problem still persists.

As advised by doc, I went for the gastroscopy but they did not find anything wrong. I have tried out natural remedies such as manuka honey with active ingredient, taking bananas and milk regularly, etc but seems like it doesn't help much.

I would deeply appreciate if anyone can share any success stories in their combat with gastric. Thanks in advance. :)

As much as I sometimes suffer from G attacks, I have to admit I don't know much, except that the juices from raw celery seems to work wonders in combating the effects of acidity. To test, rub tongue with cut chilli padi and let burn, then chew on a few sticks of raw celery ~ slowly, and see what happens.

Other than that, it appears that adopting a healthy life-style with less violent food may help. Lots of material and guides out there.

All the best with your condition Falcon.

p.s. Just re-read yr post. Have you had more lab-works done on yr organ functions and to find out if there might be chemical or hormonal imbalances?

heya falcon, have you considered visiting chinese sinseh? i had several gastric flu attacks before that i had to limp to the doctor with an umbrella as my walking stick. later I was recommended to visit the nearby sinseh, *my grandma's neighbourhood peeps are all friendly to each other*, after taking the bitter brew i was prescribed for about a week, the attacks stopped completely though i was advised not to take certain food type which my body would not 'like'
maybe you can check it out? :)

edit: saw dream merchant's post, similar to my intent but mine's more of an eastern approach :)

Thanks DM for you inputs. I have been reading up on this quite a lot in my attempt to find a "cure". Have been trying out some of the safe solutions, usually those of natural remedies but they do not help much. (Mayb need to take some time to see the results) The frequent attack is affecting my work and personal life.

I will continue to adopt a healthy lifestyle. Really made me realise the importance of good health.

I did my scope just a few weeks and will be going for a review next mth. Nope, did not do anymore lab tests after that.

I hope this can serve as reminder to u guys who do not take their meals regularly due to one reason or another. Health is very IMPORTANT! :)

Most modern medication were once derived from herbs and plants in the past anyways, so in essence, adopting the ingestion of raw plant materials (WESTERN celery - sorry, I wasn't clear in my first post) can be construed as a psuedo-eastern approach! :bsmilie:

Hmm, which reminds me on something - an alterntive approach that you might want to explore Falcon is homeo-pathy.

Hi mcclaine. I can relate to the "limping" part. It is a terrible experience. I did consider Chinese sinseh but I have nvr had any experience in going to one. Not sure if there is any implication as I am still taking western medicine now. So after a week of medication from the sinseh, you no longer have any attacks?

Not sure just how useful blod and lab work would be, but since the scopy didn't reveal any abnormalities, it might be good to discuss a series of lab tests with your doctor anyways, just in case there could be any glandular and hormonal imbalances that might be either triggering or compounding in effect to your G problem.

If it ain't physical, it's probably chemical. Seriously.

after your western medication runs out, then go for eastern, never take both of them together, i can't be sure what might happen if you do..

until now i've only had 1 attack, and that was cause i didnt have time to eat, after that i became 'obedient' again

i agree what dream merchant says too, its hard to determine until you've tried it all

i had a 3 month migraine which CTscan, liver/kidney/blood test showed nothing, i went back to a sinseh again.. after getting my head nearly pulled off, neck nearly torn, back nearly broken.. just kidding, the sinseh knew what he was doing, my migraine eased from a pain level of 8/10 to a 2/10 nowadays.

Thanks for the advice. Will speak to the specialist next mth when I see him. :)

Good to hear that the sinseh's medicine works marvel for you.

Take small snacks at regular intervals. Keep some biscuit with you if you do not have the time to take proper meal.

It may help!

If you're having Gastritis... or long-term gastric issues... You physician will be able to provide you with 6 months long supply of antacid..... which should help tone down your problem.... Hope that help.... I was scoped quite a few years back... no problems at all .. they even though it was appendicitis... but the 6 month long supply of antacid pills did make things better...

If your routine food intake has been unstable since young... or (messed up).... a common problem is for gastric fluid to be produced excessively even when you're resting.. this is probably a common cause of gastric issues... and especially long term problems like gastritis...

I'm not a doctor.... just have some paramedic training... so whatever you do... Do consult a physician... haha... Clubsnap holds no legal recognition!

Yup. Trying hard to do that now. :)

Weisen-U. Start taking them regularly at first until the frequency of the attacks reduce. Then wean off and take only when you feel an attack is imminent. After a while the problem will go away.

Don't get hungry and when you're already hungry, don't gorge on food but take small quantity of food first and give your stomach a break before you take more food.

I used to have quite bad attacks before but now I'm off Weisen-U for a couple of years already.

I heard of weisen-u before but have not tried it out. You mean weisen-u can be taken regularly as preventive measure?

think not...mom was taking that for a while and yet yesterday...she had to visit the doctor for a $40 jab to relieve her of her gastric pain...

Guess different pple react differently to it. For the case of your mom, may not be effective.

Medicine may help, but its best to eat at a fixed timing, that will "train" your stomach for that paticular routine. Personal health is more important than work.:)

I totally agree with you. I have trying to stick to a more healthy eating habit for the past 3 months. I just hope that it is not too late.
