I tried the Cokin P series standard holder (which can put up to 3 filters)

I put in one filter and try but got the vignetting at 17mm on my 17-55mm Nikkor DX frame.

Is it supposed to be like that or I done something wrong?

I don't know about the standard Cokin P holder.

I have the Cokin P and "wide" holder and I see no vignetting on my 17mm at f2.8 on my DX cam.

You need the wide holder. Or you DIY and cut off the pockets that hold the other two slots.

Ok I think I just shoot at 20mm loh, 17mm distorts anyway...

Or buy the wide angle one when I go Cathay.

Yeah I read that one but Ahbian said 10mm not much vignetting so I thought 17mm should be ok. Ahbian bluff. :bsmilie:

From Cokin makers themselves - the P holder is good for 28mm on 35mm format, the wider P holder is good for 20mm on 35mm format.

Accounting for the crop factor, the 17mm is probably still a little too wide. It might be less obvious when you try to stop down the aperture at 17mm. Objectionable vignetting can be easily corrected in post-processing. Maybe Ahbian shot the pictures at a much smaller aperture

If you do not want to trim down ur existing P holder or to purchase a slim P version or even the larger holder systems, you can try handholding the filter instead the next time.

I no bluff. I was referring to the wide angle holder. The single slot one.

Its better to use the Z-PRO series filter if you are going ultra wide.
