hi all, i'm new to the world of photography. hope to learn alot more in this forum...
My camera is Canon 400D with lens 18-55mm IS.
I have a question...my lens lowest f is 3.5. However, the lowest f i can get is 5.0. Why is it so?
There are, of course, constant aperture lenses. For instance, a f/2.8 70-200 (A common Canon and Nikon lens) has a largest aperture of f/2.8 at every focal length.

there are fixed aperture zoom lens or some call it constant aperture zoom lens, which the aperture value is same thru out all the different focal length.
yours is belong to the variable aperture zoom lens, the aperture value will change at different focal length.
btw, the fixed aperture zoom lens are much more expensive than variable aperture zoom lens.
