Hi, guys. Thought I pop in and say hello.
I just got my D90 and hope I can learn new things from you guys.
Actually I do have one thing in mind to ask, I am interested in architectural photography and just wanted to ask if any lens would cut it or there are lenses which specialize in this area?
And which lenses are recommended for this area? Could anyone share with me?

Thanks but I guess its kinda expensive. Are there other lenses that would cut it better than some others for this area?

Any wide angle with minimal curvature issues then, correct the problem in processing then.

I would agree in general, but it would also depend on where you are shooting from and what you would want to capture.

Do get a good tripod and also a spirit level.

Is it more advisable to get a prime lens, like the 24mm rather than a zoom lens, like my kit lens for architectural photography? And is there a difference between 24mm on the prime and 24mm on the kit lens? And would one prime lens, like the 24mm be enough?

Well for one, you'd have a better f stop on the prime. And if you compare the distortion, I believe the prime would be slightly better in this aspect. (have not made a direct comparision yet, this is my opinion only and you can verify this by checking the charts)

I would like to off track and ask something else as well. I am planning to get a AF-S Micro 60mm f/2.8D and maybe the AF 24mm f/2.8D as well. But for the 60mm, I hear people talking about the Nikon 6T. I would like to ask what it actually is and if its still available if anyone knows. Anyone can help clear my mind of these questions?

The 6T is a 2.9 dioptre close up filter meant for 62mm filter threads. More meant for longer zooms to get a closer focusing distance when shooting close ups.

The 60mm is already a powerful tool which allows you 1:1 magnification at about 18.5cm from image plane to subject. Why would you need to decrease this distance?

For a user of a older lens, say a 70-210 f4-5.6 which has a closest focusing distance of 1.5m, this would be much more useful.

Negative. The 60mm cannot be used together with a TC (unless you use a 3rd party one)

A protective filter may be used, but as it is deeply recessed, use of a filter is not really needed. You will not need the close-up filter as the focusing distance is already very close.

I would suggest that you go and try out this lens before you confirm on getting it. Alternatively, rent one and try it out and see if it fits your shooting requirements.

Ok Thanks! Will be going down to try the AF-S Micro 60mm f/2.8D and the AF 24mm f/2.8D at NSC. Also going down to Peninsula Plaza to try Tamron 17-50
