Hey guys,

This topic is probably not new. But I'm in a dilemma nonetheless.

I like Aperture because of it's tight integration with the whole Mac interface and other applications as well.
But I also like Lightroom, more for it's nice Web Gallery feature. Though I have to admit I just got started with Lightroom.

Anyhow, I doubt I'll be migrating from Aperture to Lightroom, give my library's size... But is there a way to use my photos concurrently with both applications? I don't want to have both Aperture and Lightroom referencing the photos, that's just confusing to the application, the photo, and me.

Any comments?

Aperture works fantastically with Flickr and Picasa. Which web gallery? I can't imagine anything better than Flickr in terms of unlimited storage, the superb slideshow, the pro community, etc. I tried Lightroom. It's nice. But Aperture on the OSX platform is unbeatable imho.

i presume u are on an Intel Mac?

Aperture crawls on a G4.

Cause of that i am using Lightroom and am loving it.

=D

Yes I am on an iMac, so that kind of speed is a non issue. On a G4, man you need to upgrade -- regardless of whaever photo management suite you use :)

Yeah, I'm on a MBP... I do upload my files to flickr and what not, but it'll also be great to have a separate gallery for say... clients? on a privatized server...

hahah...

i guess i have to upgrade sooner or later, but all my G4s still serving me well and i am sorta used to the speeds they are running at.

Cutting thru RAW files from a 15MP camera can be abit of a pain sometimes, but guess till the day i am poisoned by working on a more current machine, my G4s are good enough for me.

=D

oh ya, one thing about Aperture i do prefer, are the 3rd party plugins.

Can;t wait for them to do the same for lightroom

Aperture - plugins make Aperture very useful. Viveza is a very powerful tool. The inbuilt vignetting tool is also nice.

Lightroom - Modular system now, able to use your own identity plate to replace the "lightroom" logo which makes it seems personalized. Similar to PS.
