You should just get the 450D kit with 55-250mm lens and a 50mm prime? Then you can start shooting! To find out what kind of photos you like

I think there are some D90 kits going at around 1.5k and they are really a good buy. Go test them out kids. Push their buttons hard!

I had a 450D for a week but took it back due to focus problems. It's seems I wasn't alone. There is some info on the net regarding the focus issue.

I purchased a Nikon D80 instead which IMHO is a nicer camera. I found the colours it produced were more vivid than the Canon's. Nikon did feel a little heavier though.

Best thing to do is try them in the shops.

HTH.

It doesn't matter whether its a sony, pentax, olympus, canon or nikon, all are good in their own aspects. Try out at the shops and get a feel for it, how it holds in your hands, buttons placements, the layout of the menu, option setttings and so on, do a few test shots afterwhich get the one which you like the most. lastly remember to compare prices between different shops.

Canon 450D:thumbsup: Nikon D90:thumbsup:
just buy and join CS.
cheers in advance to your new cam:cool:

Thank you very much. However, is the Panasonic LX 3 good enough for non-professional use?

Sure it is...it's just what kind of results you are looking for.

As an aside, the LX-3 is almost as expensive as some SLRs in the market, such as the Canon 1000D and Nikon D60.
