430ex : 60 degree behind, right. 1/32
400D : 1/250secs, F10, ISO100, 50mm.

It was fun doing but, a big mess to clear up. It's not really good, I know, cos the background is still kinda able to be seen.

So, any comments?

Nice and brilliant idea. Might wanna improve on it a lil bit better.
Think the water is too much in the balloon i must say??

placing a card inbetween the flash and background to block off the light would solve the background spill problem..

I somehow feel this shot was taken a split second too late. I had seen shots with the shape of the balloon still very visibly made by the water. Dunno how they did it. I think they puncture the balloon from the front using dart, that way remains of the balloon will be hidden by the water. I had no chance to try this setup.

Good effort.

I have to admit, the timing isn't perfect, was rather slow. After 6 tries, this was the best. The position how it was pierced was important too but, I did it alone. I will do it again next time, with someone. And...Thanks!

I think the picture and the results is inspiring enough to make one want to try it! great work!

Thanks. :)
