Hi all....

I'm planning to get a sound card. I'm not a pro in choosing soundcard..
Choosing between 3.

1) Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio

2) Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Gamer

3) Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium

I've been comparing this 3.. But still not sure which is more worth it.
Budget wise, something around this 3...
Hope to hear your opinions and advises.

Thanks so much!!!

Actually I bought a Creative Inspire T6200 5.1 Speaker.

I was trying to connect the speakers to my "On board" sound card(MSI Mainboard, which shows on the box that it support 5.1/6.1ch speakers).

There are only 3 holes,
"left-Pink(Not sure what logo is that".
"Centre-Lime Green(with wording "LS".
"Right-Blue(with wording "L")".
On the front of my CPU, there are another 2 holes.
"Left Hole-Pink(With a "MIC" logo)".
Right Hole-Lime Green(with a "Headphone" Logo.)"

What comes with the speakers are 4 pins.
Lime Green, Black, Orange and Pink(Connected to remote control).

So I think I need to get a new soundcard? I'm not too sure also..
Newbie in soundcard.. 1st time getting 5.1 speakers. Usually only normal 2ch speaker. hehe

I'm still wondering if there's a need as it's stated on the mainboard that it support and also comes with software, "Realtek AC97" which allows me to test 5 speakers and subwoofer individually...

Your onboard soundcard got Black or not? Usually it's Green, Black & Orange being connected. Pink is for ladies only.

Optical cable?

Colours may be different, but the 3 holes should be 1 for left/right speakers, left/right surround speakers and center/subwoofer. It correspond with the number of wires your Creative speakers have. Use the software to test your speakers to verify.

This should helps

Here is the extract from MSI user manual(assuming you use a P35 Neo)

Audio Ports
These audio connectors are used for audio devices. You can differentiate the color
of the audio jacks for different audio sound effects.
Line-In (Blue) - Line In, is used for external CD player, tapeplayer or other
audio devices.
Line-Out (Green) - Line Out, is a connector for speakers or headphones.
Mic (Pink) - Mic, is a connector for microphones.
RS-Out (Black) - Rear-Surround Out in 4/ 5.1/ 7.1 channel mode.
CS-Out (Orange) - Center/ Subwoofer Out in 5.1/ 7.1 channel mode.
SS-Out (Gray) - Side-Surround Out 7.1 channel mode.

So what you need is one Green, black and Orange.....the color code are there for a reason...it's a standard that all manufacturer should follow......so don't anyhow plug....if not....nothing will happen :D

the box still put so big support 5.1/6.1ch..

Does that means I need to get a new sound card?
Or is there any better alternative?

If you look at your backplane...the 2 holes to the right of blue and green are still sealed...unless the goondoo who setup your PC forgot to remove it...chances are...yours are only 2.1.

Out of curiosity...maybe you can tell us what model is your motherboard? The 5.1 or 6.1 probably require an external decoder as I notice there is a RCA SPIF out....so still cannot go direct to your Creative speaker

Yes, you need a new soundcard.....alternative is to change your motherboard :D

For the model, I need to go back home to look at the box.
I think if it's really necessary, I rather get a sound card, coz I'm planning to change a new desktop late next year. After Diablo III launch.. HAHA!!!

Btw, u mean the S/P Out?

Btw, mine is categorised under "archives>Socket 478 (Intel P4)>"8** series with "neo" word".
I've checked those with neo word, they're all stated support 5.1 or above..
weird
