I bought my Lumix LX-3 from Singapore. The battery charger (Model: DE-A42B) states that the input voltage is 110v - 240v. However, the voltage in Japan in 100v.

Does anyone knows if the charger will work in Japan? Thanks.

Rest assured... It would definably worked, I have used my Lumix's charger (110~240v) in numerous countries using the 100v (including Japan). All you may need a "JAPAN Plug" to converter the SG (three pin) plug to their local pin plug. Personally I use a universal converter , so never have to worry where I am going.

On a separate note, You should waited and purchase your LX3 in Japan, aside the electrical plug issue you should be able to save quite a fair bit when you bought it there...

Enjoy your LX in Japan... :)

Anson, thank you so much for your help. :)

No problem... glad to be of service. Looking forward to your post of the beautiful scenery in Japan taken by your LX3..... enjoy..... ;)

Actually it's my wife going to Japan for business trip, not myself. :)

just borrow a 2 head flat pin adapter from the hotel will do.

Yes, the charger will work. However, most of the Panasonic chargers use a figure of 8 socket and so the cable can be swapped out for just about any suitable cable that fits. Most common would have to be the 2-pin flat or 2-pin round types. No adapter would be necessary then (for 2-pin flat).
The cable can be had for less than $5 in Sim Lim Tower.

Personally I would still recommend to use the "universal converter", as it can be used for other electrical application. And mostly importantly, it can be used in other countries.... :)

The cable is (almost) universal... just need to check power rating is correct, which shouldn't be a problem since it's only a battery charger and not some high load electrical appliance.

Thank you all for your feedback. My wife is in Japan now and she has confirmed that the LX-3 battery charger is working in Japan.

Here are a few pictures she took in Fukuoka (no PP):
