High definition shots

Hi,
I am still struggling to achieve high definition shots that I see in this site. Can anyone tell me if one needs to DI the photos after always as display as is. My photos always have the soft look. Having a 40D canon and 17mm-55mm lens.

Why not post up a few photos for us to have a look?

A lot of process goes into making the image. You have to achieve the level of detail at the point of shooting because no amount of post-process will bring back detail that wasn't captured in the first place.

Yes, process it...

Sharpen it a lil, work on it and you'll find that it'll give u a different result.

attached are 2 of my photos. I am still unable to achieve HD shots that I see on this site. I went to the shop yesterday and they told me to go to the Canon Service to check if there is something wrong with the body. They too find that my photos are not sharp. Has it got to do with my settings?

the photos look fine to me.

just need a bit of sharpening and contrast adjustments. read up more.

What exactly do you mean by "High Definition Pictures"? Technically you have the same resolution if not even higher than other people posting here. Maybe you can share an example of a picture that you think is 'high definition' compared to yours?

I think he has interchanged the idea of sharpness with high definition?

to TS: Do you mean that your pics turn out so much differently to such as of thoes pictures that appear on Mags / Portfoilio websites and such? AKA high quality shots with the WOW" factor when looked at?
