Took this picture with the intention of portraying a fallen leaf's last moments in life, before it starts to wither like the brown leaf beside it, and finally expires, and shrivels up like those behind.
As usual, taken with a K800i, and photoshopped to bring out the subject (the green and the brown leaf). I don't know abt the DOF though, because the DOF of a camera phone is limited. Comments on the intention of the photo anyone? Other comments are welcomed. =)

I really like this picture. The lighting is fantastic. Stunning shadows, and no distractions in the background. Including one dried leaf in colour is a nice touch. Perhaps a slightly wider crop, with the coloured leaves offset a little to one side, would let the image "breathe" a little bit. Great picture! :)

On the other hand, I feel that apart from the selective coloring/photoshoping technique, I see no art in this picture. The colored leaves are arranged in an unappealing manner. The shadow on the right is odd and overall, a messy picture. Sadly, it does not evoke any sense of realization or sombre on what you intend to convey thru this photo.

I suggest you retry shooting this focusing on the aesthetic appeal tho. :D Just my honest opinion.

do you think the picture would have benefited from a higher perspective, so that we could have seen it in entirety?

Idea's good but execution's poor.

Other comments:

1. Too centered. Too much empty meaningless space at bottom and to left. The tile's edge is not really exploited in the composition.

2. Subject is green and brown leaf, but the latter is cut. Somewhat disconcerting.

3. More empty space and b/w leaves at top and to right may better balance the composition and make the point more emphatically.

4. Huge shadow bottom right is also meaningless.

5. A lot more compositional possibilities than what you have selected to capture and show. Did you try at least a few of them?

Yeah... I agree the shadow at the btm right is somewhat distracting.... only realised it after editing....
