I am still confused how he won the race..
How did the Safety car affect the outcome of the race?
Well tonight you got to see how only focusing on the driver as the one and only hero to win a race is being simplistic. Tonight you can see how many factors are at play that can make or break who wins.
Alonso did not do anything more then he normally is paid to do which is to drive to the best of his ability but alot of other factors took place tonight that was why he won. Luck played a very huge part to him winning tonight.
A bit hard to explain to you everything but if you check out the F1 sites you will get a better understanding how alot of factors ( predicted or unexpected) are part of "strategies" toward wining. Safety car is good for you if you are not the leading cars....great if you are in the last portions part of the race group. When a saefy car comes out..everyone has to bunch up behind it...so all that long lead you might have as the lead care or second or third...right up to the last car...all of a sudden you have all catch up with each other. And with a safety car...that means you can get behind yoru front car but not overtake...so all of a sudden every car is like back to back till the safety cars goes off to let the race continue at "normal" speed again.. That is why this can be a strategy in itself too.... Of course there are more to it.... like using this time to refuel or something... so it gets complicated to explain it all... check out the F1.com site and follow a few more races you will get a better idea of how F1 works.

Need to see the re-play, when accident happen, no F1 cars can pass safety car. Too many things happen at the same time !
congrats to alonso... and can someone please sack the entire Ferrari Pit Crew for that incredible snafu??!! :complain:
It was not their fault so far from the investigation....it was the new stupid sensor problem.
The sensor was suppose to work with the fuel equipment. The signal to tell Massa to go was to only change to Green when the fuel nozzle leaves his car fuel socket. It went Green while the nozzle was still stuck to the socket.
THis was a new rule..last time they use a guy with a "lollipop" pole to tell the racer he can go or still stop there while his car is refuel or worked on.
well. if they had hired me as the lollilop man....things would had been different....

heheh with that kind of failure....you want to use the lollipo man again or not? heheheh of course they took the lollipop pole out again to use hahahah.. The lollipop man is not from F1..they are the race team's own people by the way.
no backup as far as I know leh... Massa and Kimi both have their own fuel nozzle. They don't share the same one. If you see some of the earlier pitstop photo shot by our forummers you will see they name fuel nozzles to each driver.

What confuse me is that when the safety car comes out, why Massa is not behind it, since he is the leading car.

Oh, i didn't know that. Means they reattached the fuel line after its ripped out and dragged all the way down the length of the pit lane? I'm amazed its still working.
no lah they have two nozzles. There are two fuel lines. So Massa's one is gone lor but as you see Kimi was just coming in behind Massa as he leave.. if they have to run to go retrieve the fuel pipe/nozzle and then run back to fuel kimi's car..like that Kimi die liao heheheheh.... Each racer has their own fuel nozzle and pipe lah! heheh
from the TV images, someone from the crew appeared to be hurt after being whacked by the trailing pipe. hope the fella is ok...
Yah, what I meant was subsequent pit stops for Massa, whose nozzle they used then? haha..
