comments are definitely welcome! :D

welcome on board! ;)

Hi nana77

Nice takes and a very lovely dog!
Remeber to try something different each day!

Ryan

Nice start for a person starting photography, explore more n u find wonders with the D60 :)

lovely dog! nice photos!
Try experimenting with capturing the dog at an angle, so as to capture more of the body. If you take him/her head-on, the photo can look a bit weird (big head, small body), but sometimes that effect can be artistic too...! :)
Also, do try taking under different lighting conditions.

Hi Nana77, welcome to the club. By looking at some of your pictures, you don't sounds like a newbie. Nice shots mate

thanks everyone.

still very green to alot of photography terms & techniques. will be getting some books to read & hope to pick up some valuable tips from this forum too.

just took a few more pictures recently. trying to achieve some effects tho not very successful. not much inspiration these days

Good to see more people love photography.Press on, nana77.:)

Yeah! Keep taking photos and improve:)
OT I have a friend with the same name and surname. What a coincidence!

you may also want to learn how to work on your photos aftre shooting to make the final print

as the famous B&W photographer Ansel Adams once said... you don't take a picture you make one!

so darkroom or the post-modern day equivalent digital darkroom techniques for post-processing (pp for short) is just as important a skill to learn to really make the pictures you want...

you may want to pick up how to use Photoshop CS3 or Elements or Lightroom... but if you can't afford to buy these, you may want to try the free GIMP software available online... jsut do a search for it

welcome to the world of photography! there's a lot to learn! ;)

is it me or are those dolls freaky. :bsmilie:

hi, I am new to photography too and looking for a beginner DSLR to start off. Went to Funan with 2 friends to check out the cameras and quite like the D60 recommended by one of the shops there. I see that u are using a D60 too.... in your opinion is this a good camera to start off with? Should I get the 55-200 lense as well? Do you use zoom lense often while learning? Cheers

doom102938: the world is small, isnt it? :)

woolman: thanks for your advice. will have to work towards those progressively. ;)

eleveninth: actually alot of people find blythe dolls freaky. they resemble chucky. heh

zweveree: D60 is actually a camera for beginners. not exactly the best but good enough for starters. but definitely not able to satisfy the ambitious ones. honestly i'm very very green to photography, camera & all the photography jargon & equipment. so i can't answer you on the part on zoom lens. i'm currently using kits lens.

Here are guidelines for beginners.

1. Get a DSLR that you can grow with at least for the next
one or two years. In most cases your knowledge of photography
will outgrow what the camera can offer if you are getting a simple
basic DSLR. Unless you are constraint with budget, get a better
camera so that you can enjoy it without regret.

2. One of the most important lesson to learn in photography is
to be able to see with your eyes. The prime 50mm lens is the best
tool for the job. You won't be able to enjoy "seeing" with the
angle of view of the human eye with a zoom lens.

3. The 50-200mm Zoom is the least ideal lens even for
street photography. Sometimes I was wondering why the
manufacturers want to produce this unpopular focal zoom length.
Perhaps you will find using this lens more often if you are visiting
the zoom where you want to take a close up shot of the animals or
some beautiful parrots.

Start off with just a standard lens in the focal length of 50mm or
get a 60mm Macro lens where you will be fascinated with its
ability to explore into the world of marco photography.

:)

Hi,
Nice pics. I am also a newbie and wonder how you managed to achieve such vibrant colors and sharp photos.
What shutter speed and aperture do you use?
I have just bought a Canon 40D with 15mm-55mm lens.

really nice photos you've got there, NDividualistic

*2 thumbs up*

my D60 is just fine for a beginner like myself :D

Yup. Having photography buddies might help you choose which camp to go to. My take is that either way you cannot go wrong.

For me, the pulling factor to Nikon is that a few of my friends use Nikon cameras and equipment. They have quite a array of lens, so ya can borrow stuff from them haha.

One question, how do you see the setting of the camera from the picture?:S
