6 months China Trip

Hi, I am currently planning a 6 months trip to China next year. Planning to commence after Chinese New Year which is in January

Currently There are the places I Plan to Go

1)Xiamen(cos got contacts there)
2)Guangzhou(cos got contacts there)
3)Guilin
4)Kunming & nearby yunnan attractions
5)Chengdu & nearby attractions(which includes ermei mountain, leshan etc...)
6)Jiu zhai gou
7)Dunhuang
8)Tibet
9)Kunlun Mountains
10)Huangshan
11)Taishan
12)Beijing(cos got contacts there)
13)Shanghai(cos got contacts there)
14)Suzhou(cos got contacts there)
15)Hangzhou
16)Xi'An
17)Xuan Kong Si in Heng Shan(North)
18)4 buddhist sacred mountains.


May I know is there a recommended route to include all the above places? Cos I have worked out a route that includes except Kun Lun Mountains, Huang Shan and Taishan.

I would really appreciate if you could recommend some places that I can and should go along the way.

Now the thing that worries me is the VISA. Not sure whether can be there for so long.

Actually you can fly to HK and do the visa there then travel to Guangzhou from there by train. Just like what i did last time and the visa i did, it a 6 mths "business visa" with multiple entries.

Hmm, my company used to apply business visa with multiple entries with a validity of 1 year. However, due to the recent Olympics, China side is unwilling to issue multiple entries even for MNCs. Most of my colleagues either get a 30 days entry allowance or 60 days entry allowances on a double entry visa.

And we are still wondering when this new policy will be lifted...:dunno:

And this is why i did not go to HK for a walk for my 3 days rest in Guangdong, Huizhou...:cry:

May I know what do you mean by multiple? Do you mind explaining in details? Cos I don't want to end up going to hong kong from tibet or beijing just to extend my VISA.

Multiple entries mean that within the period of the Visa you have, you can in/out china as many time as you one lor as long within the period that it issue to you.

To clear all your worries it's better to go to the China Embassy in Singapore and check with them lor.

honestly, 6 months seem like not very long too if you really want to cover "whole" china. And all of us travel differently, some just want go to place and see it then head of to another..... and some prefer to stay there for a time to feel the culture and just walk around.

I think you better plan your route properly cos China is very big lor. As for me, i travel by train and bus when i head from town to town or city to city.

Actually going there is more to appreciate the beautiful natural landscape and visit some cultural heritage site. May I know feeling the culture means? Cos for me I do have quite a good knowledge of China's history less those post Qing Dynasty period.

Have roughly planned by route, mostly by train and some bus. I feel really excited to take a ride in the 青藏铁路.

May I know where part of China did you go previously? I saw some budget accomodations recommended in Tiger Airway website.

Ya, that is what i heard from my admin as well. 1st Oct 2008. Hope it is true man.

I could...but who is going to sponsor me? heheheheh...... I recall someone who did about almost 10 yrs back. He put aside about $100,000 in cash to do it. Immigration issues was a nightmare too back then

You mean SGD$100,000 or RMB$100,000? Even RMB$100,000 is also a lot.

Before all the Olyumpics thing, Singapore passport into China, no need VISA IIRC. Multiple entries applies for PR, which I did for my boss. It just means from SIN to China. Not China - China. So one trip to CHINA means SINGLE TRIP.

I did more than 14days a couple of times and hop from city to city. Not sure it has changed though.

Good to check, especially with the messy immigration rules by them.

Even the APEC card dont work now =(
