Tripod and Filter

Hi to all the experts in the forum,

I quite a newies to the DSLR world.
Had been exploring the thrill of taking shoot for 3 months and would like to expand my knowledge.

Would like to purchase a tripod, but not sure what the criteria to look for.
NOt actually looking for whose high end expensive type, but actually want it to be convenient to carry and use when taking shoot, as i find it awful to carry around a tripod attaching a camera while sightseeing for good shoot....any recommendations?

Secondly,
will like to buy filter for the len.
Beside the UV for lens protection, would like to buy a filter that can aided in shooting the sky and lanscape/building, as the current problem i counter is that the landscape and building will be quite dark if want to take a nice sky photograph. Any recommendation.

U need a graduated neutral density filter (link provided below). Or u can try bracketing your shot using the bracketing function on your dslr and do HDR in photoshop. :cheers:

BTW you do not carry the tripod around attached to your camera.I take out the mounting plate and attach that to my camera/80-200 for faster set up.

A good tripod and head is a one time investment, providing the stability you need for your setup.

No need to always attach the camera to the tripod. Can mount it when needed.
( But sometimes when I am planning to take more landscape shots around an area I do attach the camera to the tripod for faster setup - I hitched the setup to a bicycle the last time I went to Biei in Japan )

Graduated ND may help in certain situations. Read up on HDR/exposure blending as well and understand how they can help and how they can fail. There issin a perfect solution for all actually.
