Tamron 90mm Lens Enquiry...User lip lai..

Currently using cheap cheap Prime Lens 50mm F.18... but hoping to buy Tamron 90mm F2.8 so that i can really take some good macro pics (1:1)... May i know what is the review on this lens..is it worthy and what is the rough cost....Tamron users, pls enlighten me...:lovegrin:

I have been using it for a year.. a sharp and light macro lens, reali value for money.. good for flowers....:thumbsup::thumbsup:
not so good for insects or butterfly as a bit short....
also its AF may be a bit slow...
thats my experience with it...:lovegrin::vhappy:

Very simple light piece of lens for me...

I use mine stopped down at f8 most of the time and it's excellent. For samples, check out my flickr site.

thanks for the reply..guys..is the AF really that slow? if i use the inbuilt flash with the lens to take a object in dark surrounding, will the body of the lens block the flash and cast ugly shadow?

Yes and yes bro. But its a very sharp piece of lens, and I use MF most of the time when I shoot macro with this lens anyway.

Do note that this lens extends when focussing.

Since you said 'just', it means S$200 is okay for you. Go for it, the autofocus is faster, silent, and the lens doesn't extend when autofocusing.

second that opinion. AF a bit slow most of the time had to use MF... but cheapest Macro lens (bought mine 2nd hand for $420)
