Hi all,
First timer here. No DSLR yet, planning to get one later this year.

Photo taken in Japan earlier this year with Sony DSC H5, can't remember setting, I think with auto mode.
Photo taken at about 7am.
Image was slightly edited with PS trial version.

Seeking advice regarding composition and photo editing skill.
Thanks

simply beautiful nice shot:)

Is it a little overexposed?

i dont think so. its looks good

the best thing that many photographers forget is the timing, and 7am is probably excellent. thats something crucial in getting a nice picture

Hi jiayeong

Nice take on Mount Fuji
I find that there is abit of overexposure at the tip. Not too sure if it could be attributed to post procesing. Perhaps you can try shoot raw and work from there.

Else a GND might be able to get abit more details from the peak, and pulling more details from the shadow areas as well.

Ryan

Thanks for the encouraging remarks, guys!! :)

"GND might be able to get a bit more details from the peak, and pulling more details from the shadow areas as well."

Thanks for the tips Ryan, noted the dark areas (around the trees) but I just do not know how to brighten that part up without spoiling the rest of the pic. Will need to brush up my post-processing skill.

Yup, I agree with u, a graduated filter might be good to reduced the over exposed area. Will try to adjust the over-exposed part with software again tonight.

Thanks a lot, JiaYeong

Great composition. Agree with some of you that the snow-capped area is a little overexposed, that diminishes a bit of detail that I'd have otherwise liked to see.

a little pull down in the brighter area would be good, and i think there is a little tilt, last but not least, can try doing a panorama crop.

Oopps, ya slightly tilted.....didn't notice it earlier. Regarding panaroma crop, I am afraid the mountain's reflection in the lake will be affected if I do that.

crop the top, not the bottom, the sky is pretty blend anyway, you can also try adding a digital GND effect in photoshop

we look at the pic upside down ,you try it looks better .

That's a nice serene landscape you've captured there. Only thing to me is that a more symmetrical composition between the mountain and its reflection might be more suitable as mentioned already.

Nice photo of mount fuji.
btw, you can find many freewares around that can show you the EXIF data of photos (if you do not have any). It'll help to show you the settings you used. Just google it :)

Thanks, I will hunt for it.

Thanks guys, for all the comments and new ideas posted here, appreciate all your inputs.

Was this taken at the Hakone area? The clouds obscured the mountain completely the time I was there... : (
Yup, that's right hakone !!!! I was sooooooo lucky, got such as nice weather for me to take photos, but no DSLR yet :(
Hopefully can get one by end of this year... :)

Lucky u. When I was there, lousy weather, can't see the ice cap.
After that I went up 5th station, largi worst, can't even find my coach, visibility was like 5m.
