Hi Guys,

i looking for a prosumer camera heres my shortlisted model, any recommendation?

any idea on the pricing and the place to go for good deal?

my usage are as follows;
- landscaping + night shots + micro shots

= Panasonic DMC-FZ18k
= Sony H50
= Fuji Film S100 FS
= Cannon S 5 IS

Thanks... :)

The models you have shortlisted are pretty good cams. I guess either will be good enough since your usages will require a tripod anyway.

Bro...
Go to googleess than type search for each models.
You will find out a lot of review there and end user views.

Panasonic.

I have the panasonic... Alot of good points for the camera.
Unfortunately, night shoot is not one of them.
Landscape and macro is not bad.

I think you have forgot one great prosumer camera, Panasonic FZ50, it support manual zoom & focus+ support TTL Flash. Did I mention it have a flip-screen too... ;)

Some shots taken with FZ50:

Hiyee...

S5IS is good because you can hack e firmware to make it capture images in "raw"... But i find it a hassle. Love its LCD screen which can rotate and u can take yourself/edison.

Fuji- I knw nuts bout it....

Sony- usually have great colours... based on my impression on my fren's H3 but it seems like their adapter to fit filters or additional lenses are of an unique thread size (Heard it when an angmoh went into John 3:16 to ask for a odd sized filter)

Panasonic... Heard its great to use with a closeup filter for macro AS the manual focus is not pressing buttons but turning the "barrel" in front... macham a DSLR la...

Well, to me, more importantly is e Imagequality as well as size la... u wun carry a HUGE camera ard tt often...

Well, these are nt backed up info. So go find out more about the points I raised if u have doubts or are keen in those features.

Cheers mate!

yesh S5 allows the usage of the CHDK hack,

supports RAW shooting, 64 seconds exposure, super fast shutter, battery indicator + many many extra functions.

You mean you had to hack it to get a battery indicator??? Goodness gracious!!!

I vote for the H50. Great lens, great image quality, good for macros too.

Ohh to update...

For S5IS... the lens cap drop off too easily... that may be a turnoff factor...

and for the adaptor, u need to buy... cost about 50 bucks... hehe

I would consider other models that can capture in raw directly... there should be some models out there that can take in RAW i suppose..

why fz18 when there is a fz28 out there? :dunno:
anyway, do consider lx3 if you do not need the tele end. Its armed with a execellence 24-60mm (35mm equiv) f2.0-2.8 Leica lens. One of the rare or only cam with native 16:9 sensor and a good 24mm wide zoom lens. Might fall short when compared to all the other 4 you mentions when it comes to macro ability, but its definitely one of the best for landscape and probably night shot amoung the few named.
