Hi all,

I need to take some pictures of my product (baby clothing) for my webshop and I'm new to photography. Can you please help me, as I have only 5 MP nikon digital camera and no other equipments. I know that I'll need to use some lights and all.

Please let me know what all I need to buy and what is minimum budget, that I should spend. Also explain me the process.

Thanks in advance for all the replies.

images for web don't need a camera to have large MP, you need to downsize all the images to around 50kb for easy loading too, else your customers will be very inpatients to wait to see all the photos finish loading and log off your site.

if u are lying the cloths flat(not on those plastic model), probably a mahjong paper as background will do the trick. thats probably the minimum u can do without complicated lighting... etc

Hi Catchlight and ExplorerZ,

Thanks a lot for your tips. But I need some more tips on basic lighting and things like that.

since its pretty flat, ur camera flash could probably do the job well enough to present the clothes. "complicated" lighting only show more effects when subject are more 3d or reflective... etc

how to teach online like that??

iirc, if lie flat, think ortega said b4, use a flatbed scanner better...
haha don need so detail to that extend ba. :bsmilie: tho that will be extremely flat.

I think depends on your standard?

I helped my sister to take photos of children clothings by just using a Canon s80 with the clothes flat on a white/black board (depends on the colour of the clothes) and no flash was needed.

Hi all,

Thanks for your tips. Will appreciate a few more specially DIY lighting.
