Hey! I was under the impression that I would meet you at an old friend's wedding in Singapore this June but didn't see you. I assumed there must have been a change of plans.

Anyway, it would be a pleasure to watch an experienced professional like you at work.

I'm seldom in this forum. I'm more active in Friendster, and you know I'm in your contact list.

To all ClubSnappers in Melbourne, shall we arrange to meet up? I'm free to meet up tomorrow and next Mon-Thu during daytime.. if any of u guys interested, we can either arrange to do some photography or simply meeting up :)

This thread, like the 2 similar threads I started before, looks slow-moving. I would suspect that many ClubSnappers in Melbourne are not frequently on the forum. Hence, it is better to arrange a meet-up in advance.

Since most members are Singaporeans, I propose meeting up in the city next weekend on 9th Aug in the spirit of National Day. Lets set aside 9th Aug afternoon for a lunch/drinks.

I suggest all ClubSnappers in Melbourne keep this day free if they are really enthusiastic about meeting up. Perhaps, start a register of names for those who want to participate in this meet-up.

*raises hand*

Back in the days when Jemapela started a similar thread I put my name down there as well but never got down to meeting. It was one of the most stressful times of my life because I was just starting my first job. Even these days my schedule sometimes involves weekend work with off on weekdays. It's semi-predictable but not easy to work around.

Currently I'm working at RSPCA down at Burwood as a vet. If you want me to see your pets, just look for Andrew Lim and tell me you're from CS! But don't ask for discount ah! :bsmilie: Since working my camera has hardly seen daylight, which is a bit sad considering I'm still actively buying stuff after discovering evil Ebay.

9th August. I might be available. On the night of 8th Aug I'd be having dinner with colleagues and some wine/ beer, so hope I'm not too stoned out on the day after. Hope we won't be meeting anywhere too far. I've been meaning to get down to Southbank sometime for night photography but because public transport here is less than stellar, it usually isn't so easy.

I could drive, but parking would set me back a large chunk of cash.

9th of August noon sounds good.. say 12PM at the clocks of Flinders Street station?

And we can all wield big, heavy DSLRs so that we will be instantly recognizable amongst the crowd. ;)

I'll need to confirm if I can make it there. Transport is going to be the key issue.

Hi mates,

I will be in Melbourne on the 19th to 22nd of August. Anyone wants to meet up to have a beer or something ?

I have been in Melbourne for about 6 years, and it's true that public transport isn't as efficient and quick as in Singapore, but I have gotten used to it. I don't own a car.

My past 2 threads only gathered less than a handful. I'm hope members would make an effort to meet.

At this moment, it seems to be 9th Aug 12pm on the steps of Flinders Street station.

I don't see the point in bringing out large cameras and long lenses to be seen if we aren't shooting anything but just talking.

In the past I was staying around the city and public transport there was certainly good enough. A lot of the time, I would walk instead of take the transport in order to save money. Walks from Crown Casino all the way down to Lygon Street (which was near a hostel where I stayed) were pretty normal, even with groceries. :bsmilie: I knew that I could buy groceries at the safeway near Lygon, but went for the long route just for the exercise.

Now where I stay, it's harder to get public transport that's straightforward. It would involve change of transport types and such, but I've narrowed down some easy possibilities. Still, there's a walk out to The Pines which is fairly long in itself, now that I'm so unfit.

I'm tentatively available this Sat. Naturally I'm also juggling other things, including a hunt for a new fish tank because I'm expecting a whole lot of fry within the next 2-3 weeks. I'd bring a camera for good measure in case something interesting pops up. Should make it a point to carry the camera everywhere I go.

If I wait till an actual photo trip on an off day, my camera won't leave the house for 360 days of the year!

Hi Jemapela,fWord, Engta and all

glad this thread has been revived. I'll be visiting Melbourne in early Dec for a week. Intend to self-drive to Mornington Peninsular with my family. Apart from Sunny Ridge Strawberry Farm, have not explored other parts of Mornington so not sure how to plan my route. Any specific vineyard/farms or winery to recommend which have excellent scenery? :)

hi pixie_genie, hope u'll have an enjoyable trip in December. not sure of any vineyard, farms or winery here in Victoria (though I've stayed here for 5 yrs ;)).. u may want to visit this site http://www.visitvictoria.com/ for info :)

I thought it will be good if we can have some photography activities too, rather than simply chit chat session.. what do u guys think?

I'm agreeable but doubt I will be shooting much or any.

The issue here is who will participate. Response has always been cold.

I agree, response is cold. hmm.. maybe it's gonna be the Olympics season, and 'cos it's winter, so many opt to stay at home and watch the event.. well, trying to come out with some reasons here ;)

Maybe we should delay the meet up session till more people express their interests.. hopefully after the Olympics.

If meeting up on National Day isn't a good enough reason, I don't see any other Saturday to be a better reason.

Honestly, I'm not as optimistic about the response even after Olympics.

I think this Saturday's meet looks like a no-go.

It's always difficult to organize something like this. Invariably people may have been working all week and have to put other commitments during the weekends. Anyway, I'll be watching this space. If there's another one in the future I'll try to set aside time for it. It will be a good excuse to start spending time on photography again.

Sorry guys!!
I have not been following up on this thread. Hardly got time to online. Here I am in Melbourne and is my last nite after so many days of enjoyment. Just in case wanna meet up, I'll be at 122 Lygon Street, My Cafe. Is a boardgame cafe setup by my fren. Do come dropby often or tomorrow morning for a drink with me before I fly if u guys have time.
Cheers mate!!!
