had this fever for the past 3 days with no flu symtoms.

Went to see doctor, doctor did a blood test. Tested negative for Dengue antibodies. IGC and IGM both negative. but have a low platelet count 143.

Doctor say likely to be dengue..... I dun remember any mosquito bites leh....

xian. I thought dengue very painful one? my fever was ok leh... not too high and eat panadol will bring it down.

Anyone had dengue b4? And when I can I tell if I will get the more serious version DHF? since my IGM is negative, it means I never had dengue b4 so the chance of getting DHF is much lower right?

I just came back from Mt Alvernia.... did all the blood tests and the doctor send me home leh. I quite pa si.... I wanted to get admitted :) but he say my platelet count too high.... come back tmr and do blood test again.

i got it before....

at start like sore throat n fever on n off.....will ok for 1-2 days den come back.....

mine was detected on the 3rd weeks.....doc say i late abit going to die liao.....coz my blood pallets dropped very low than normal alot....

on the 3rd week , got red spots on my body, palm etc....tiny dots or rashes they called....body so weak that got to be wheel chaired to emergency.

1st and 2nd test they cant find anything.....

anyway this r based on my own experience......maybe urs is not ......drink more water and rest more.....

when did u do your 1st and 2nd test? I thought dengue last for only 10 days? 3 weeks?

maybe you have another infection (sore throat) earlier, not dengue.

are you getting any really bad muscle cramps? When i had it i thought my back was being snapped in half...

my platet count drop from 180 to 20 in less than 12 hrs.
in a bad way, u just have to wait for it to happen, else the hospital wun admit u.
right now, drink more water and get plenty of rest.

symptoms differ from person to person.
high fever is the norm, and it flucuates quite a bit.
rashes and back pain may set in at a later stage.
if u start bleeding uncontrollably, esp from the teeth, get ur arse into A&E asap.

dunno leh...

my muscle ache is really not that bad....

if I eat 2 panadol, then totally ok, fever also go down. I still have energy to surf CS :)

but doctor says he think is most likely dengue.... say I must come back tmr to redo blood test.

I think there are two kinds of dengue. The normal dengue fever which is not serious and the dengue hemorrhagic fever which is far more serious....

IgM may be negative initially in the early stage; usually becomes positive after day 5 of infection.

Platelets . 100K quite safe.

If you so sick, you will not be posting here .... :)

If not dengue, may be chikugunya.

that's the one where you're bleeding...its the more dangerous strain.

IgM may be negative initially in the early stage; usually becomes positive after day 5 of infection.

I googled and IgM is testing for long term immunity to Dengue, ie test for past infections. IgC is the one that test for current infection.

Since I never had dengue in the past, google says that the chance of developing the more serious kind of dengue is much lower.

it is not different strain. It is just that different people reacts differently to the same virus (4 strains of dengue). And also if you have a previous dengue infection, and you get it again (different strain), chances of it being serious is 6 times higher.

IgM are the acute phase immunoglubulins - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IgM

Evidence of past infections are presence of specific IgG class immunoglobulins.

There are 4 strains of dengue viruses so the possiblity exists of 4 distinctly different infections. Reinfection with the same strain is highly unlikely. There are other factors that may have a more important part in determining severity of any one infection.

BTW there is no such immunoglobulins as IgC.

Just take care, drink more water, rest and go for check up tomorrow, even if you worry also won't help.

I got it before. High fever, all my bones and joints felt like breaking up into pieces, see stars spinning in my head like nobody business. Went to polyclinic, done a blood test on the spot...and Bingo! Blood platelets counts dropped to 20 plus...nearly going to say byebye. I was admitted to Gleneagles Hospital for about 11 days.
