hello CSers.
shot this during NDP but at Padang.

NDPFuture2-1.jpg

been wanting to know how you guys feel about the
-composition
-post processing
-the feeling it gave
and any other comments.

i understand that there are noise, but i can't seem to reduce them.
any suggestions? :dunno:

due to post processing i think.
seriously, i didnt even noticed that...
thanks...

aha you look at that picture and all you see is the white dot??
the tree why got white white spot ?

it is the street light over exposing. it doesnt take anything away from the picture itself. very good subjects. attention is automatically at the boy and then straight to the plane itself because of where his eyes lead. Also a nice back drop of the cityscape and the grain is quite a nice addition.

there are quite obvious lines around the buildings tho. but shouldnt be a problem, good picture, well done.

the composition is not bad... but do take note that there's quite alot of noise in the picture.... the trees at the side look a shade of under exposed green and the buildings look very unnatural against the sky as it seems to have a odd kind of outline on it... the red neon lights on the building look over saturated hence becoming a distraction...
what kind of settings did you take with?

Frankly, seems pretty badly post-processed to me. The buildings etc seemed to be pasted on ... unless my eyes are failing me.

your eyes are ok
definitely post processed gone heywire

The critique, why so nitpicky? It really doesn't take away anything from the photo. :what:

It's a really great idea, and your composition is really spot on for this. However, the post-processing lets it down though. Was this a HDR rendered from a single RAW file?

Nice job on the composition and timing of the shot....

But as mentioned, work needs to be done or less done up...
Try Noise Ninja as you're shooting with ISO 800, it's a major requirement.

And since you're shooting with 18mm angle of view, you can open up a lil more

Yeah. It also looks to me that it's pasted.

Composition-wise, I think it's good.

i thought the post processing worked -.-
LOL. i think too much.

i merely played with Levels in photoshop. xD

i checked out Noise Ninja
and it sure is expensive.
wa. i didnt know EXIF data will be included when saving the image :(

Yeah. It also looks to me that it's pasted.

why all say pasted? :bsmilie:

yeah, i did notice.
guess it was becos of post processing and shooting at ISO 800.
taken note of all the mistakes you have highlighted.
and settings are...
-F/8
-1/125 sec
-ISO 800
-Spot Metering
-Aperture Priority

the grain didn't seem to work for everyone here. :(
but thanks for viewing and complimenting :)

do you have the original picture?

color palette is gruesome (i do not mean that offensively, it just gives a gruesome feel), the composition is something i like and the tilt seems to actually work here.

but yes, as everyone else has commented, processing has given it an overdone, mutated feel.. which is a pity.

um, yeah.
i'll upload the original pic later ;)

here's the original.

my try; i think you really went very heavy on the post processing -

here i used layers, one layer set to screen type, one layer set to multiply, keep multiply for sky, slowly erase with soft brush
some contrast/color/exposure adjustments

best case scenario is if you had used fill flash on the kid.

hmmmm...
okokok.
looked so much better than original and my post processing
thanks alot dude!;)

GEEZ!
i can't seem to get near to the results night86mare did.
