how long can i keep the lens without putting inside a dry box?

i am going out on a long trekking trip like a month in the tropics... juz would like to noe how long can we keep the lens outside without keeping inside a dry box... assuming i ran out of silicon beads.. any u guyz hv any experience not putting lens inside the drybox for a long time...

I think a month shouldn't be a problem at all as long as the more important factors such as dust, mud and water is kept out of the lens. Just my 2 cents, please dont flame me if i'm wrong, just correct me.

If you use it constantly I guess its ok, but to play safe bring along a few airtight ziploc bags if you are going to a place with high humidity and moisture (e.g jungle trekking) and keep it inside the ziploc when not in use.

If it is Pentax camera, with their claim of weatherproof, we need to keep in drybox?

Well camera may be waterproof, but lens still vulnerable.
Thus best to bring along some air tight bags to store at night perhaps.
No harm playing it safe right ?

The setup is water-proof...but is it moisture/condensation/fungus proof?:think:

the water and moisture part i can try to be careful but the condensation is really hard.. when i was staying overnight on top of a tropical mountain... as the morning i wake up.. the condensation forms everywhere due to the dews... i think the only sure bet is ziplock liao...

but i really wonder how those wilderness photographer or maybe war photographer how they survive without dry box... probably zip lock will also wear and tear mah..

i really worry abt fungus attack...

pack it together with thirsty hippo travel packs. there are some other dehumidifier packs for wardrobes with anti fungus feature

not sure ziploc will help alot. cuz it will still happen the moment you take your cam out.

those 'pros' tends to service their equipments regularly... i tink.
