Recommended Max Exposure Time

Got a newbie question here.

Read from book and website that it is recommended to set max exposure time to 1/X second where X is the focal length of the lens to minimize image blur due to handshake.

But for a non-full frame camera like 450d where crop ratio is 1.6, len is at maybe 50mm and without IS. What should be the recommended max exposure? Is it 1/50 or is it 1/(50*1.6)?

If it is 1/(50*1.6), need to be good at maths :bsmilie:

You mean MINIMUM shutter speed to avoid handshakes...

just follow the focal length.. ignore the crop factor...
 

Yes, I mean min shutter speed.

There is no mention of crop factor in the book or website. Thanks for clarifying
 

yup, disregard the crop factor

anything is in the lens, and not the camera. all the cropped camera does is records a smaller portion of the image as compared to a full frame

that also explains why compacts dont have such a big problem with camera shake (focal lengths of only around 10mm)
