THE country has ended its six-month trial of going paperless, and Singaporeans will
have to fill in the embarkation and disembarkation forms again at the Causeway and
the Second Link from this week. Which means more time spent at immigration clearance.
The reason for reverting to the fourpage forms is not known, but the New
Straits Times in Malaysia reported that the decision by the federal authorities was
communicated to Johor’s immigration authorities last week.
Today had reported in January how the trial to dispense with the four-page card
was meant to make travelling overland to Malaysia smoother. Since then, Singaporeans
have been using just their passports for scanning and verification.
The move was well-received, and Johor Tourist Guide Association chairman Jimmy
Leong told NST that he hopes the latest decision can be reversed.
“We should make life easier for our guests, not the other way round,” he was
reported as saying. “This is going to affect arrivals. Eventually, many sectors will suffer,
tourism among them.” --- TODAY

wa heng ah...since they increased their petrol price...my friend dont go there anymore...

Hmm seems its been too long since I went to Malaysia. As far as I can remember I always did fill in the card :D

Maybe coz I'm Indian Passport holder ;p

well, filing white cards help authority to locate you in case of emergency despite looking for fraudsters. got to look at the bright side too.

Gah....so damn stupid! It only helps locate you if you stay in one particular state for the entire trip. If you intend to go to KL for a few days, then Penang, then Ipoh or whereever, how are they going to locate you?

it is not about filling the white cards but the on again off again that is causing so much confusion.

I guarantee you there will be a whole bunch of unscrupulous customs officer demanding money for left before this was annouced and coming back after it comes into effect.

abt a couple of months ago, in the middle of the hoo-haa when they briefly introduced the white card again, a customs official asked my fren if he wanted some more cards and pushed a thick stack to him ... my fren had to "pay" kopi money to him for it ...

I heard that shortly after that, the customs claimed that they dun hv enough white cards to go ard ... in less than a week, the white cards system was scrapped ... my fren ended up paying for nothing ...

Malaysia Boleh ....

One step forward, three steps back....
