Portrait shots using Polarizer?

Hi,
Would like to chk if anybody ever use polarizer filter for portrait shots?Coz I always find tat if the backdrop is some sky background then a polarizer will enhance d sky color & effects.Correct me if I'm wrong.However is it also true tat polarizer stop down 1-2 stops?
Not very sure d outcome so juz to confirm if anyone has done tat before.Thx.

using polariser will decrease the speed by at least 1 stop. Also, it will make the face a bit darker. if u shooting close up or almost full frame of the model, avoid using polariser. Just use if u shoot using a wide angle i'd say.

Thx & will bear that in mind... Thx for the tips & I kindda suspected that the lowering of 1 or 2 stops and even using UV/skylite filters it does the same thing. For Wide Angle I'll use it for ... thank you.

if there is a reason for doing it -

cutting of reflection, contrast of skies, etc.. why not? the effects of a well-used polariser cannot be replicated in photoshop.

but if there isn't, take it out. filters degrade quality.. and as mentioned, they cut out light, increasing your chances of handshake.

i didnt know you can archieve this kinda effects with cpl on portraits, what lightings and accessories do you actually use?

I can see that it is not easy to use it for portrait as the controlling of lightings would be quite uncertain. Mind sharing how was your set up & setting? Juz curious...

Skyports : does it mean that your flash was triggered by rad? Manual mode only?

my 2 cents worth:

camera, lens, flash, cpl = tools.

use them anyway you like as long as they achieve what you want.

like everyone said, the importance is the person behind the little black box.

1x White shoot through umbrella

Nice work !

One flash on my left and one flash on my right with shoot through umbrella. With manual exposure mode (1/250, f/4.5). Adjust the power of the flash until you get what you want (just do it fast as the sun is going down fast too ).

Yes. Radio trigger.

Besides those that you've mentioned, polarizer also reduce reflection. In studio or outdoor shots, the light/flash might reflect on the subject's oily skin and might cause glare, therefore using a polarizer here will reduce the glare on the skin
