focus on the subject and shoot.
that's right. here's some more.
1) learn about your camera.
2) try shooting in different situation
3) bring your camera to the max
4) apply your knowledge when you want to shoot.
5) there's no magic settings so just do your best else hire a pro photographer.
my 2 cents worth.
Good decent flash with diffuser & lotsa juice from the batt. Long zoom lense as many parents will be blocking your view unless ur are authorised to walk infront & snap snap snap. Then if tats so juz a normal zoom lense will do.
Had tried once... was chaotic man as relatives & friends all rush to the side & try to snap their sons/daughters collecting the cert. Good luck!
thanks. I do not know whether my 40-150mm enuf anot... 80-300 (35mm equivalent) if I were to stand far. Becuz I seldom take indoor shot, I'm not very sure of the setting i shld use. I dun think i'll be allow to use flash? Even so, can my FL-36 reach tat far (not very gd at using ext. flash), at most 80m digonally up (highest point for worst situation)? hee~ Anyone got took convocation photo b4? Possible to send me photos to see? Will be glad and appreciated.
the standard shot whereby the cert is handed over by the dean (or whoever) to the student is usually undertaken by the official photographer. he will ve the best angle.
being far back, there will be several problems:
1. difficulty hand-holding at tele end
2. slow shutter resulting from slow lens and low light
3. angle. u probably ve to stand up when everyone around u is seated
4. since u are so far back and in a potentially chaotic situation, no way to ensure that someone or something wun be blocking your view during that brief instance
i'd say let the offical photographer handle the stage part.
u can always take photos when the ceremony is over.
