Hi all,

first off, i would like to apologize if i do now know about this...

Can i wear contacts in NS????

thanks!
Jeremy Pan

yes. i used to wear contact lenses when i play basketball in camp (reason being i broke my specs twice while playing basketball). but please bring your specs along. most likely you will not want to wear contact lenses outfield.

yes. please wear them out field and get your eyes infected so you can do yourself a favour and get down graded. wished i had thought of doing that..sigh...

but if you really care for your health, not really adviceable... depending on where you go, you might be dealing with alot of dust, sand, dirt, grime etc....which for some reason could get into contact with your lenses and end up infecting your eye...long durations outfield also means you won't be able to wear it for those periods....in short, you shouldn't wear them for hygiene reasons...

plus it's more troublesome for you to go to bunk and sleep when you want to keng cos it takes more time to remove your contacts...

why you so vain? wear contacts in ns..trying to look good for your encik so you can get extras is it?

best way to gam with your encik is not to wear contacts and look pretty. just go the mess and drink with him...everytime my encik used to see me he would be like "OI! come here, why you never go to the mess to drink?" :D he'll just kan the rest of the other guys

no. dun wear contacts. it is a hassle. imagine 3am they suddenly wake you up........

imagine you doing jumping jacks and your lens drop.........

imagine dirt getting into your eyes in field camp........

some people still do in NS, but i would say wait to you get into a unit life, and when the pace of ns gets slower, you can wear back without much probs.

strongly recommend getting a pair of specs for backup.

Lol... thanks all!

Cos i am thinking of getting a pair now (yearly) and it would be a waste as i am going in next year if i cant wear them... i play soccer alot... so i need contacts as my specs always kana the ball... i changed to plastic specs in order to prevent it from recieving too much damage... lol

BTW i wont care if my encik likes my face or not (but isit a good thing to?)... lol

Specs i would always have a spare

Bro
That is a recipe for infection
It is a matter of time before you get it

I had a platoon mate drop his lenses during live firing, and he was scrambling to find them, while the shots were everywhere!

(same chap is a big shot in the army now)

You can wear it in the office, when you are attending lectures etc
But wearing them outfield is plain dumb mate.... seriously

i wore my contact lens for 7days out field exercise, just add water :)

plenty of spare "specs" in the army..sigh..i was one of them...ICT not enough NSmen specs? nehmind, throw in the nsf..throw in me..always me..knn...should have clocked a couple of ICTs already if they actually counted for me.

maybe i should do the same when i get called up for my first ict..let the poor nsf bugger kenna like i did

yes it's a good thing to have your encik like your face..contrary to what people say, it's good to be liked. it's easier to get things done and if any trouble comes your way, easier for you to get out, or at least to take less damage

sorry its my fault...i deferred ICT at least 4 times already
sorry you had to suffer because of me...

Outfield, wear glasses. Range, wear contacts. In camp doing random saikang, up to you.

Can you wear? Of course you can.

The question is whether you should.

When I was in NS, got this fella every time delay because he must put on contacts, even during fieldcamp! He was >this< close to getting blanket party from us.

hey ikiri, i'm not going to tell you what to do, but just want to share then you decide. you know how they say you should always do your best? in NS when you do, there's a high chance they'll keep using you, but they never say thank you. or raise your allowance. or give you any extra off days, or if they do, you can't claim it. at the very most they'll just say, it's your duty. in fact you'll be letting many well paid regulars sit in their office shake leg watch youtube and play their stupid "my rank beach road buy one is it?" bs on you. don't take any of that crap. kan them back. idiots get their rank every year regardless..and they get it from the e-mart cos they pay by credits and the qm probably doesn't have any left for them...let them do some work...oops. didn't mean to tell you what to do.ah well you decide.

last bit of advice, don't be fooled by all the posters and recruiters...the advertisements are very good i must admit. but real life does not reflect reel life. the recruiters are just really good at their job at smoking you. don't pick up tobacco smoking, but do pick up verbal smoking..very useful skill....and please don't sign on...you can think about signing on, i did, just don't make the mistake of signing the dotted line...much more to life in this silly island and beyond for you to live for

there was a directive about contact lenses .. something about using them . i cant remember and i cant check for you as i ORDed already a month ago :D
