Hi! I am a newbie using Canon 400D. how do i turn off flash without using 'flash off' mode? thanks in advance~! =)

Using AV, TV, P, M mode will allow you to turn off the flash.
Usually when you use AV mode, and set to the biggest aperture(smallest F number) you will have the maximum shutter speed.
But you have to control the ISO yourself.

Thanks hidden!

yea, i noticed you can't turn off flash using 'AUTO' on canons

if i want to cancel flash using 'AUTO' on my D50, i just use brute force and press the damn thing down. works!:bsmilie:

On canon, that causes an error, and the camera must be restarted. I'm pretty sure its bad for your camera too.
