quick newbie question. do you use CPL over UV, or the other way round, or just CPL?

any side effects of using CPL over UV? coz the UV is more for protecting the lense and find it quite troublesome to remove the UV to attach the CPL

but flaring is more likely to occur if u stack filters...

Less light gets into ur cam. If you want to take good phots using a CPL, dun be lazy.:)

ok, another newbie qns. i understand CPL and ND will reduce the light, but i notice UV filters are so clear. do they actually decrease the light as well?

Slightly. It also sorta filters out UV rays? :bsmilie:

you can stack both the filters but you'll get internal flare, and degrading of IQ. if you really die die must do it, then cpl should be the outer most filter.

thanks for all your replies.....conclusion...dun be lazy....;)

heard of it but didn't try. can get it off ebay..

stacking filters will cause vignetting on wide angle, you will see four corners of the images black out.

of course UV filters will filter away some light, especially UV light, or else you will not able to see the glass at all, but you need not to compensate for any light loss.

Another newbie question... My Hoya CPL can be rotated and there is a white marking on it, so where do I rotate the marking to?? My guess is top. Advise pse. Thanks

there's no fixed position for the CPL. The white marker is an indication for you to know how far you've rotated the filter, so you know if you've turned the filter 1 complete round and still can't get the effect you want, no point to turn further ;)

I see :) point noted. Thanks
