Went down to Funan Digitalife Mall alone today,
Visited 3 stores ( Alan photo trading , matrix it gallery, song brother )

Alan photo trading Offer:
* D60 dual kit lens : $1380 ( if u pay by nets or cash )
+ Free Gift ( memory stick + something else )
* D60 kit : $960
+ no free gifts

Matrix IT gallery offer:
* D60 dual kit lens : no ask them -__-

* D60 kit : $1188
+ 1 Bag, 2gb ms, 1 tripod

Song Brother offer:
*D60 kit : $1188
+ 1 bag, 4gb ms, 1 tripod

Going to the store tomorrow again to get my first DSLR, asking my father to come along with me. The customers in the store look like angry mobs when i went in -.- so scary!!!
At Alan photo i get the chance to touch the D60 ( actually ask them to let me see it ), really like this Camera, feel so light with it. So it the price they offer to me good or are they trying to cheat my money because i told them i am a beginner?

Alan Photo have a good price, if u compare the Nikon great sale price of S$1488 with the above mentioned freebies and dual lenses. save about 100+ :)

call 64576380 and 63387670 first for quotations also.

Stay away from freebies and don't calculate them in to judge the price.
Reason being, the price of freebies are very unstable, and they drop very fast. They quoted you price of a complete set, but you don't how they arrived at this price. You also don't know the price of the individual components of the set. Plus, you might be able to get better prices for those freebies elsewhere.

Check out more stores before you decide. Funan isn't the only place you can get good price for cameras. There are stores like cathay photo, tk foto. Though I'm not advertising nor promoting them.

So do i really need the dual kits lens or the single kit lens is enough for a beginner like me to learn?

IMO I think why not start with a single kit lens and explore from there
You might not need the other kit lens and probably paying it for nothing . Once you are familarised, you will know what you need next ( or may not even need at all )

ok.. but the Alan photo told me that the dual kit is good because it got everything i need for a beginner. -____-

ok going other stores to check out the camera. Thank for the tips "giantcanopy".

I went Funan Alan photo ask the price for D60 yest. Quoted me $950 with 1 lens and 1 2gb but the stupid sales there attitude problem one. Sucked up face then dun even look at u when u ask them politely. Not going to buy from there even if its the cheapest... :angry:

Not advertising or anything but i live in Boon Lay but i intend to go visit a few famous camera shops in AMK due to strong recommendation to research for my DSLR. A definite must visit would be Cathay and MSColor.

A quick link to price and the shops in singapore : nikon price guide

hope it doesn add to more confusion :bsmilie:

John316 quoted me better pricing for the D60 dual lens kit (with all freebies as per official Nikon promo). It's slightly below $1300 (CASH only and incl. GST). Look for Samuel and good luck in your purchase! :D

When to many places today and end up buying my d60 at Cathay photo (Good customer services, he even teach me how to fit the lens on to camera this really help a beginner like me) . Charging the battery now. Thank you all people for helping out in my purchase. Brought the Dual kit. Now looking for a good and affordable dry-cabinet, anyone know where to get one for $90-110+? In the meantime, i be using my father old dry box to keep my camera+lens and i brought silcon gel ( $5 i think -.- so expensive ). Cathay photo have no stocks on the smaller dry-cabinet but they will have it the next month. ( $98 or $118-digital ) - the price they gave me. Thank you!!!!

Try Digicab for dry cabinets. Digitally controlled ones are easy to set the percentage.
Don't get the smallest one, at least one size bigger, or else when U buy new lens U'd be stuck with little space.

Good that you made the trip to AMK. one more thing if you need dry box on the cheap, just get those toyogo and stuff it with the silica gel. Not as glamorous as an actual dry box but mechanics is about the same.

Think the exact price they quoting is $1250 ;)

Just went today. Definitely going back next week to make purchase and i'll be asking for more discount. Grin.

But er, still undecided as to which camera to get yet but D60 dual lens kit sits at no.1 currently :p

Using D60 for a week now, never regret buying it. Go down the store and touch the camera, see which one you like best. :)

Already did that. Next week will be my final trip there ;)

I can't wait to start clicking away! Think i'm taking the plunge to buy the D60 after doing all the reading. Hope i wont change my mind again!

After all, it's the person behind the camera that matters most! Grin.
