Hi, I am thinking of buying a neckstrap. Contemplating between a Martin field and Optech. The quick release clip on the Optech seems a bit risky,as I think it can break easily.

Pls post your experience.

Thanks

The Optech straps are great, definitely lighten the load, have been using it on the D2X and F5 for a few months, and even with a 70-200 2.8 mounted the quick release holds strong, Dont think it will break easily.

TS probably refering to the plastic hardens, and becomes brittle. As a result of material fatigue, plastic may snap?

Well, own an Optech myself. Found the feature of being able to release the sponge portion useful, especially if you do not like straps hanging from the bag. And as for the possibility of material fatigue, I think it is unlikely to occur, unless one subjects the strap to extreme hot & cold temperature - in which case, one should be more worried of the cam, isn't it?

My personal views...

Yup, I was worried that the plastic release will get weaken after repeated disconnecting and connecting.and eventually snap when I hang it around my neck, and my camera...

I own an Optech strap, and I don't think the clip will break so easily. Optech strap are quite comfortable, though having tried a Matin strap recently, I think Matin strap may be a bit more comfortable.

Hi, may I know which version of the optech did you try? The thin strap or the thick strap with loop?

May I know where did you get your martin? Cos I can't find one at TCW.

Thanks

I also saw other brands of neckstrap like kata and crumpler industry disgrace. Are they gd? Any more other recommendations?

Thanks

Mine should be the thick strap type.

The Matin strap I tried was somebody's else, but I think Orient Photo may have them.

I am using Lowepro Voyager C currently bro.. perhaps, u can consider it as well... it just so comfortable... :)

Domke 'Gripper' neckstraps are very good but can be only sourced from overseas. They come in 2 widths.

Just got Crumpler's Industry Disgrace (Black) from the Crumpler store.
$13.95 after 10% discount from using a UOB debit/credit card.
Quite good if you ask me..

Using the Optech Pro Loop strap on my 1DII. It's a solid, heavy camera on its own. Heftiest load I've put on the strap is the 1DII, 70-200 f/2.8, with a 580EX on top. Handles the load very well, and I have remove the sponge portion for day-to-day camera usage; it only comes on during events.
