Battery inside DSLR

I have a Q.....

Wonder If you do not use your DSLR for a few days or may be weeks....
Do u remove the battery inside the DSLR or just leave it inside.???

If remove the battery for may be weeks the setting of the DSLR example :
like time or date and setting will reset?

Or just leave the battery inside the DSLR will the battery affect the DSLR? :think:

I left my battery out for a few days. The timing still intact. If for few days, I just leave it in. For "cold storage" for a few weeks, best to take them out.

Your camera manual will help you.
Usually all cameras have a second small non-rechargeable battery to keep data like time, date and settings. Otherwise a simple battery change would reset these data.

New camera should not have such thing anymore, user setting should be stored in flash memory, and clock powered by some kind of "energy retention device" similar to that of rechargeable battery but will drain off in days or weeks, depends on it's capacity.

All batteries should be taken out of their devices when not in use for a long time (weeks-months), esp hp batts too.

Just check it every few days to check the battery level. I personally prefer to shoot with a full batt, so I will swap the battery when it's below 65%.

450D uses flash memory to store the date/time info. So, the info might get reset if the camera battery becomes exhausted during a long storage.

Please refer to you manual (P. 29) Setting the Date and Time.

For other camera that use button battery to store date and time, this battery will need to be taken out if you plan to store the camera for a very very long time (ex. years) as the spent battery might leaks and damage the camera.
