Hi,

I'm changing 20k SGD to foreign exchange.

Wondering which places offer the best rates.

For hongkong dollar and Yen ESP.
Does exchanging a bigger amount mean higher rates?

newbie here.

Thanks

Mustafa has some of the best rates:

http://www.mustafa.com.sg/forex.asp

compare this to the local banks (usually not so good rates) or local money changers in chinatown or at Raffles place

Yen, just went down a little today (22 Apr)....not sure how it goes tomorrow

I don't think they will have that amount equivalent in other currencies.......you may need to ask them beforehand. There may be a better rate if you change more, but you need to ask them not us :)

Yeap that true lol... what am i thinking... haha

I just changed HK dollar last week, abt S$ 1 to HK$5.68 at parkway. The indian store just opposite Ya Kun. The 2 chinese money changers just beside will not give a good price initially... but when you want to walk away... they give you a "special" price. Ask around. Lucky plaza basement got one good rate too. Just ask around before commit.

This money changer does offer a good exchange rate. Changed there before, and I can say that the rates are better than banks (well, definitely) and those from Chinatown. There's one at Change Alley too which my friend told me of before.

Good luck in ur search! It's always good for you to search around especially when you are changing such a huge sum, don't settle for what offered, but try to get the best deal. :)

You can also look for Joseph at Chijmes. You won't miss the little corner shop when you cross the junction from Bras Basah to Raffles City. :)

change alley is a good bet. there's a lot of money changers around for you to compare rate.

For investment? If yes i guess it's best you go bank and open up a foreign currency account.;)Base on yen at 13.6, you will be carrying like 1.5mil yen with u in your pocket:eek:
You will use less SGD to buy more foreign currency base on 20K

If you are changing such an amount, you can call them to come to your place instead of you going down. Once, you find the best rate shop, give them a call to come to your place.

Safer for your pocket, safer for you :)

think normally most would, the one at parkway intro by the rest does that for us previously. now we changed to another one. dunno can give info here anot...

we'll just call over, ask today's rates with the amount we wanna change. then if ok, either we bank in cheque to their account or via internet banking or they come collect, normally dun expect us to place 20k cash on table for them to count as well. nowadays is cashless transactions.
